Oh well, at least the day started good

When taking the wheel/tire off my '99 even if I have done so recently, I have to beat on the tire sidewall with a hammer to dislodge the wheel. About the time I'm good and mad
it comes off.

I have gotten lucky on my 02 F250 around getting the wheels off. Since they are a hub pilot, I went ahead and cleaned up the hub and then put a light coat of anti-seize on the hub before I put the wheel back on. Knock on wood - no more problems...

I hope to never have to touch them again. My tire guy rotates them for free for buying my tires from him. I just had to deal with this one myself on the side of the road with limited tools.

That is a good idea thoug about the anti-seize. I have never had to touch the tires on our 02 F-250 as my tire guy has done all the tire changes and rotations and we have never had a flat (knock on wood). I will ask him about this though since I never knew these tires were such a pain in the butt to get off the hub.

Have any of you used "tire slime"? do you recomend it? I have a friend who uses it in almost everything and claims it is great stuff and will fix almost anything.

I have no experience with it. Do you have any idea how much would be need for this application?

Nice one Steve.... I think you could get that fixed with tire slime and a couple of garbage bags -- just bag the tire and rim and fill 'er up!! :D

What my guy did was when he got the tire repaired, he had the shop remove the other 3 wheels to make sure he could get them off later. Might be an idea for future removals.

Whenever I get a new vehicle, I take all the lug nuts off, one at a time, put a little bit of anti-seize on the stud threads, and torque them back on. This takes less than an hour, and I know I will never have to fight a stuck one a midnight in a snowstorm.

Now it looks like it is going to be take each wheel off one at a time. I will still use the anti-seize on the lugs.
