You should get the tractor that feels comfortable to you.
I have a L4240 and love it. I very seldom use the brakes with the 4WD and the HST. There has been once, snow on ground carrying something heavy in the FEL across the side of a hill, old road bed. I needed to use the brakes to help with steering since front was sliping. As stated earlier by First One I used my right foot on the HST and my left on the brakes. Did feel strange but worked.
