Oil & Fuel Oil change or not to oil change ?????

/ Oil change or not to oil change ????? #21
On my L3940 I change engine oil and filter every 2 years or 200 hours, whichever comes first. I do about a 100 hours a year so it happens about the same time. I maintain 18 four cycle engines at the farm and house. If I did everything by the book or at 1/2 intervals, I would not have time for important things in life like family, kids, or work. Philip.

I've been changing oil and filter once a year on my L3400. I normally put 50 hours in a year, but even if I didn't, that's how long I would go. I use synthetic and with that little use, once a year I think is fine. Others might disagree.

I change the hydraulic fluid and filters once every two years despite the fact that in two years I only put 100 hours on it.

I do the same thing. I run Delvac one.

What does the Kubota Owners Manual say?
I change mine every month whether I use it or not. After spending this much money for a tractor, who wants to take a chance? My grandpa and his grandpa always did and their tractors didn't tear up very often at all! I don't understand people that don't do it as often as I do!!! Why take a chance and wait over a month. I also change all my hydraulic fluids every week. Who wants to take a chance? You can't do it to often but you can sure not do it often enough!
I used my BX25 yesterday for about an hour so I also change all fluids every time I use it. Why take a chance??
What does the manual say? Maybe the Engineers at the Company will have a different idea than me and my ancesters!:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:

Don't forget the blinker fluid. This is one of the most frequently missed checks and the ramifications are to painful to even contemplate.

I'm not near my manual to see what it says wrt time. TripleR, does your manual say anything about time.

I don't have my 5030 Manual handy, but my 8540 doesn't on oil, it just says every 300 hours.

I find that interesting that they do not specify a time limit for oil and filters. I always thought that they did have some sort of limited life - don't they? I wonder if Kubota does not list one because they don't believe there are crazy enough people like me that will buy a M7040 and put only 50 hours on it?

I am 64 so if I think about it long enough it seems that I can often "remember" things that may or may not be true.

I have checked my L5030 and M8540 Operator Manuals and as to oil and oil filters it goes by hours used while some things go by the calendar.

We recently moved our Massey Ferguson 375 out to the farm where my brothers live as I got to the point to where I couldn't drive it and it was not run more than maybe once a year. The hour meter hasn't worked in years, so I told my brother to check the fluids thinking that as a mechanic he might want to dump and replace. After going over it, he said he saw no need for doing anything other than to work on the electrical system and greasing everything.

I don't store the tractors I use, so everything gets run occasionally during the winter even if it is only long enough to heat everything up good.

I put about 400 hours on the 5030 and about 150 on the 8540 with about 200 on the BX2660.

That is an excellent point. There is nothing that stops them from putting in a 'so many hrs or so many months/years - whichever comes first' clause - since it seems like they do use the calender for some things.

I agree with TripleR, go by your manual.:D
So I don't have to keep changing mine every week whether I use it or not since it is so cheap to protect such an expensive purchase???;););) What will Grandpa and Great Grandpa think?:D Now I can stop buying oil in 55 gallon barrells and filters by the gross!:)
Does this also apply to the HST fluid and filters being changed weekly just to be sure???
