Not sure, that is what I am thinking. From what I am understanding it is on the front of the block under the harmonic balancer as shown in one of the pics/ If I am wrong please let me know. There is nothing inside the block to represent an oil pump unless I am missing something.

This is the only other type of oil pump installation that I'm aware of, and both are inside the block.

You are probably right Max, but I haven't seen that type of installation before now.

Ok talked to Thomas at affordable tractor and he says that the oil pump is internal and that the only screen I have is the one in the sump and that the only pressure relief valve is in the oil filter housing. The picture of what I thought was the oil pump under the harmonic balancer is actually part of the timing cover. So with that being said I am going to put it back together and if I cant get any pressure I am going to find a diesel mechanic to look at it.

Here is a pic of the oil pump and gasket. Because of the cast in oil passages I think I can say now with a degree of certainty that your oil pump is inside the timing gear cover or just behind #1 main bearing cap. It is driven from the crankshaft gear.

Thanks for posting the extra pics. Let us know how it goes!

Okay Bob thank you very much for your help. I have stated that I am no mechanic but have common sense. With that being said and your pics I now have some more questions about the oil pressure situation on my tractor. Correct me if I am wrong but with a gear driven pump is it safe to say that it either works or doesn't work, there is no in between? What I am asking is can the pump be working but not pumping to full potential thus creating low pressure? I cannot find any blockage in the oil passages is there something else I could be missing? I am going to try to adjust the pressure relief system in the oil filter housing to see if that helps. Should I try adjusting it further in or go the other way to loosen up the spring inside? Once again Bob and others for your help. By the time I get finished with this project I should be a lot more knowledgeable about the oil workings of my motor. One other thing I forgot to mention in all this is that I had the engine rebuilt a couple of years ago and have not used the tractor since other than to start it up occasionally to move it to mow the yard or let it run to keep things lubricated and keep the battery charged. Just thought I should mention this.

If you are getting oil out where the oil sender hooks up ,what about to the top of the engine at the rockers ?, I would also look at the oil pressure regulator where the Oil filter screws on, the adjustment is under the acorn nut,I have also seen the gasket under the oil filter housing on backwards and block the oil pressure, I have not seen a lot of failures in the TY395 Oil pumps

That makes me think the gasket on the oil filter housing may have been put on backwards ????( Rebuilt a few years ago ) Only a few bolts to check it out
