Since you changed the oil, I am thinking a real expensive lesson, sorry about that.

It can if not torqued down enough. :(

Just had a warning flash up on my car; "Check oil level". I have been changing oil about every 3000 miles. I never need oil in between oil changes. This time I only went about 2000 miles and I'm over 2.5 quarts low. Last time I had oil changed at one of those quick change places. The oil is not leaking. I am guessing the quick change place didn't put enough oil in engine. Here's the point. The warning message warned me to check oil. I am wondering if there is a sensor to actually shut down car when gets even lower. The technology is there. Why don't these new farm machines have an automatic shutoff when oil gets really low? It can really be easy to overlook the red warning oil light on a sunny day.

Couple weeks ago my brother-in-law was using my Mahindra. I have a little leak in the radiator. I have been lifting hood and keeping the overflow bottle full. It drains down when cold. Problem; it wasn't enough to keep radiator with enough water. No problem for me. I watch the gauges. Brother-in-law can't see crap and he surprised me with cutting a big section of grass that needed cut. I came home just as he shut off machine. I walked over to machine and switched key on; hot to the middle of the red line. No steam or smoke raising from engine. I guess it's ok. Ran it since then and it seems good.

Wouldn't it be nice if every thing that can ruin an engine would have shutoff sensors to protect equipment. The computers are in the machines. Couldn't cost all that much extra or make it an extra. A good name for type of extra, idiot proof. This kind af feature is always something I can use.

Cheers....Coffeeman

Very easy to set up with low tech parts.

One of my coworkers' son runs a towing business. Last week coworker came to work with a funny story. He does all his own oil changes etc. When he changed the oil in his wife's new Chevy he forgot to reset the oil life timer. When the "change oil "light came on she knew the oil had just been changed & because he's working six 13 hour shifts per week she didn't mention that the light was on. A few days later the car went into "limp mode" and eventually stopped running. She couldn't reach her son & had to have a competitor tow her car to get the computer reset. Coworker was in the doghouse. MikeD74T

When I was a kid in 60s, when ya got a new used car it was good if it wasn't an oil burner. A friend got a used Dodge. First couple weeks he bragged, "I haven't put a drop of oil in this car since I had it." Third week he blew the engine..........No oil in it.

My dad always used to say, "Check the oil in that car boy. Oil's cheaper than bearings, ya know."

Welcome to TBN. I can no longer remember all the times I have told myself "no good deed goes unpunished :(". It seems everytime I am "proactive" there are natural and unintended consequences. Talk to your dealer; the tractor is under warranty. Jay

Afraid you won't be able to blame the dealer. once they know you changed the oil it will be your responsability., as it should be.

I don't know. If it were mine I might be able to make a case for a defective oil plug. There might even be a recall on plugs. Or how about a; " The engine doesn't seem to run right? Mr dealer, check it out and tell me what's wrong." What obligation do we have to tell their people what's wrong. They never want to know anyway. Besides, it don't cost the dealer anything. In fact it makes $$ for the shop.

Cheers
