I have to go back to the fact that there should be little if any vertical play in the kingpin stack. If there is 1/8", something isn't right. It is precision machinery. When they assemble it at the factory, they select a shim for the bottom to fit within a few thousandths of an inch. Does the bottom nut go back where it was originally? Where in Maine are you? I go through the Portland area now and then. If I could see it I could make better guesses.
