Sounds good on the starter repair.
As far as oil, I'd take a good look at the oil you drain, and if it appears to flow from the engine drain okay, and is not sludge, I would proceed with a change of filter and oil, then do it again in 50 hours.
If it comes out as sludge, I would put new oil in but not change the filter. Then run a few hours and change the oil and the filter after that. I would expect that the filter would be plugged if there is sludge, and until some of the sludge gets flushed out the crankcase, that a new filter would not be beneficial. Do what feels good to you.
