Well .. the weather in NY souther tier has been excellent for growing stuff.
The white and red mulberry trees in the backyard are literally, quite literally dripping with fruit. Those will become Mulberry ice cream this weekend.
This mulberry stuff, has an interesting effect on the local fauna. At 5pm, the wild turkey and broods make the first pass under the red tree. At 7:30 a red fox picked up where they left off. Then the wax wings and squirrels go at it for an hour. Finally, the white tailed does and fawns (9 total), o'possum, ground hogs and coon's call a truce and dine collectively after midnight.
Who needs Animal Planet? This tree is 4 feet off the back deck. Another redeeming factor, I have learned to identify scat from all these critters.
Oh, and my LX288 has purple rubber now too.
Lastly, unripened berrys and shoots are thought to have halucinogenic properties. So says the field guide.
