Flusher Actually all I had to do Is take all the twine out that the mice ate:laughing: it left me with a half of a roll...and it worked good after that. Now I am going to but more sisal twine today since I just cut 7-8 acres yesterday to bale on Monday if the weather holds out, what kind of a knot do you use to tie the bales together??? ANd how can I find the end to tie to ? THanks tons of help so far

A simple square knot (aka reef knot) works OK.

MF124 end knot (Small).jpg

The twine feeds from the inside (center) end of the ball. For example, the inside end of twine ball A-1 in the photo attaches to the outside end of twine ball A and so forth. You may need to tear a little bit of the outside wrapper off to locate the outside end, but don't tear off all of the wrapper or else you'll have a mess.

USe the chute squeeze screws to adjsut the weight of yor bales. Bakc it off two tunrs make a few bales then see how they feel. When we wer ekids we used to jump on th eblaer and lossen up the screws so we ahev light bale sstacking. Farmer Elmer caught us and welded them down. We stack 80lbs bales for a few days.

OK so I went out and bought a grimm tedder, looks like an old one but maybe not it is the type thats made of a big "drum" with all the srping teeth on it and is PTO driven, it is not the rotary type. Is this any good? And when is the best time to tedder? Should I do it right after I cut or the day after or wait not sure I know they are suppost to save time but need to know when. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE

I generally tedd Immediately after cutting, while cutting if I've got help - then the tractor with the tedder will follow the haybine a couple rows out. A couple exceptions are; 1. if I'm cutting late in the day or evening and I suspect there's a real heavy dew or rain before morning, I'll leave it in the windrows until the next day and then tedd them, and 2. if the ground is very wet I'll sometimes leave cut hay in the windrow to allow the ground between the windrows to get some sun and hopefully dry up a little.

Well thats the problem I am having the tedder I have doesnt spread it all out it just "fluffs " it up. I know I see a lot of tedders that throw the hay all over and spreads it out evenly but this on still stays in its original rows.Ill try to find a pick to show you
