Congrats Kebo! Nice rig and i'm glad you passed on the other truck.

You'll love the ride and fuel mileage. The 5.3 with the six speed is a nice combo too. Just a tip, but check all of the fluids. My 2012 was low on power steering and rear axle gear lube.

Don't worry about the nay-sayers. Their just jealous!

Nice truck, I like the looks of the ford better though;) which brings me to ask! why you swing toward a Chevy? Did you have problems with your older ford? Remember what they say.... "once you've had the best nothing else will compare",:D

Just wait till I get finished with this Z71, it will look even better lol.

To tell you the truth, I have always preferred Fords, but this Chevy was just such a good deal that I decided to jump on it. The F150 has given me a few problems over the 11 yrs I’ve had it, most notably the tranny went out at only 75k. The engine has had several issues such as four ignition coil packs going bad (at different times), one plug breaking off down in the “hole”, and most recently (last year actually) the composite intake manifold cracked on one corner causing it to bleed out antifreeze.

Believe me, if I had come across a great deal on a nearly new Ford, like what I got on this Silverado, I would have jumped right on it!!

Get this.... the guy that owns that 2012 truck that was in the other thread I started sent me an email today. He said he would drop the price to $27,500, he "was planning to get rid of it asap", as he put it!! I thanked him for the offer, but declined again. I then mentioned the one that I had just bought, and he replied back with a congratulations. He seems like a nice guy though, but sounds like he really needs to get rid of that lease agreement. I hope he finds a buyer for it.

It's quite understandable, I've experience many of the Ford fault's as well, Too bad the auto building industries can't leave things alone, They're always trying to better improve things, which winds up costing us consumers triple in the long run, or either have us seeking out a better built and more reliable product,;)

IMHO I think the auto industries should source out the power plant/engine to one who makes reliable engines, we know who they are, Put the same engine in all 4 of the top name brand trucks, This would help to level out the playing field, leaving the only thing to decide on is personal preference of body style and interior design, But Waite! come to think of it all trucks body styles are now starting to look the same, aren't they!:D
I'm sure you'll have that Ol-Chevy looking just as good as the ford does,

Great looking truck. It's got to have a leveling kit. I watch them come of final line every night. Yours has no rake in the 1st photo. Dead giveaway. A friend of mine got a new one yesterday. Hers is an extended cab Z-71. Nice truck, Hoss. Glad you got the deal you were looking for. :drink:

Thanks! Good timing on your post though..... I stopped by a place in town yesterday that installs lift kits, leveling kits, and pretty much anything else you want added to your vehicle's suspension or exterior. They checked it and told me it already has the leveling kit installed. Plus, it has aftermarket gas shocks on it from Rough Country. That's a few hundred I can spend on something else, like the spray in liner!

that's a nice z71 the sprayin liner over the rail cost me 800 included rear wheel openings

I new you would get a better deal.

What gears does it have? The 3.08's are a killer on GM's.

We do like our Z-71's. We have two. A 2003 and a 2007. They ride well, handle well, and pull a trailer well. We have owned pickups exclusively since 1974. Z-71's are truly "Do it all" trucks. Unless something else better comes along our next truck will be another Z-71.

Isn't the Z71 package just stickers and shocks

Nice truck. I have a 99 Silverado Z71 that just rolled over 100k miles a few months ago. I bought it back in 2007 I think with 43k miles on it. I've never had anything go wrong with it except for some ABS break box went out once which was a common problem for 99 models.

I really like chevy myself, but I'm not one to pass on other makes either. We have a 2012 Ford Explorer also that we love. Nice riding vehicle. I'm looking for a new truck when we get the Explorer paid off. As for now I'm leaning more towards an F150. Reason being is the interior. I really dislike the cheap looking interior that Cheverolet has. I have seen pics of the new 2014 models that have an updated interior and it looks nice. I'll just have to see when it comes that time.

The factory build sheet is still in the glove box, the total price with all options and before any discounts is $42,800, I got it for $31,850. With just 960 miles showing at delivery, I am happy with the deal!! This truck has the 3.42 ratio axles.

That should be good for 9,500# towing.
