Well DCS I'd be very careful and would not try it unless I had someone else around.. in case something went  .....

It looks like one rear wheel, ran chain through holes in rim and secured to beam/log/4x4....be careful;)

That was awesome! Would have saved me some time last fall if I had thought of it. You should have someone video your attempt, and be sure and speak english when you do (want to hear what you say when the front end pops up). Good luck!

Looked to me like they had cables both front and rear to assist as well. Great technique... I'll have to remember.

I had my 5030 with BH stuck similar to yours. FEL and BH were no help. I ended up using a come-along and chains. I found a tree about 50' away and I tightened the come along as tight as I could then moved the tractor up a inch got off tractor and repeated the process about 50 times.

Kenny Rogers sang about getting stuck on a tractor once..... You gotta know when to hold up, know when to fold up! Once you're stuck enough that the tractor won't pull itself out, QUIT letting it dig in deeper. Get another tractor, a wrecker, or even (seen this on time with a badly stuck combine) a helicopter!

You mentioned lime to dry up the wet soil surrounding the tractor. I'd be afraid of cementing yourself in the ground with that plan.

Dig out what you can, then get something that'll pull you out without much of any assistance from the tractor itself. A winch is better than raw horsepower/brute force.

If you have any trees nearby in front, you can run chain through rear rim near front of tire and to the tree. Again go easy and stop when the chain comes around to the back of the wheel, this should have pulled you one tire diameter forward.

I have used the chain thru the wheel method to pull myself backward up and out of a mudhole. With the chain thru the wheel, and in creeper gear, the wheel acts like a winch drum and pulls the chain right down into the hole. As the chain gets tight, the tire will roll right back up the chain. Unfortunatly, the tree you attach the chain/cable to must be nearly directly ahead of or behind the wheel. This method has a low tolerance for angles as the chain or cable will roll off the side of the tire(like the cable would on a winch if it dosn't have a fairlead). You also need a difflock or as soon as the chain comes taught and that wheel has some traction using the chain, the opposite wheel will start to spin. To go backward, you will most likley have to remove the mower.

As for the logs/boards across the wheel, that is pretty cool. You need to do both wheels and if you look at the tractor orientation in the video, you will see he is first hooking up the right wheel then the left. I think if you only did one wheel, well first you would need a diff lock as the wheel with the board would stop when the board dug in and the other wheel would spin, second, if you used the difflock with one board, as that wheel dug in the tractor front would probably hop(yaw) toward the side without the board. I think I would probably use a lower gear than the one used in the video.

Good Luck, and try not to shovel too much. In my experience, it has never been very productive.

I did it, I got 'er stuck...but good too. I was mowing a field and was navigating around a wet spot or at least I thought I was out of the wet spot. Now, I got my 4310 stuck, like up to frame. I worked on it all day digging mud from the front of the tires and putting boards down to try and build a road, but it just keeps sinking. I finally figured out that my way is just not going to work. I will take any suggestions you guys have.
Whatever you do, get a video....

Sounds like the 4x4 or log chained across the diameter of the wheel will work, but be careful. A neighbor of mine had to do that just a couple of weeks ago. He got out, but in the process he managed to snap off the valve of one of the large rear tires. And he was driving a borrowed tractor.

txdon; that sucker looked nasty. Why were you that close to that muck-hole anyway?
