I am not sure if I'm going to run right out and apply for my carry permit.
I will need 16 hours of instructor training, plus, Illinois will want about $150 in fees?
What will you carry?

I live just across the river in Missouri and haven't stepped foot in Illinois since my sons graduation from boot camp in 1998, I was hoping Illinois would come up with a better process. My sons use to teach CCW classes which are only one day. When you add in all the costs of two days of training, fees etc., no telling what the eventual cost is going to be. If a person doesn't already own a handgun, the total cost is just going to be too much for some people. Some improvements in our system have been made, so maybe over time yours will evolve into something bit better. Good luck.

And I think the piece a trash Governor we have wants it that way.
Edit=If I carry, I want this to be on my side.
OK, one of them.

I'm pretty sure you are right. Our legislature had to over ride our governor's veto to pass ours then anti-gun groups challenged it in court and for some time, some sheriff's refused to issue permits. Many in the St. Louis area had to get permits out of Florida.

I have my certificates awaiting fingerprints so I can send in. (fingerprints are not mandatory) but will delay application. If you have a DD214 honorable discharge it cuts it to 8 hours. Very restrictive on where you can carry! Most courses are running $120 per 8hr course plus $150 for permit.
