Harv,
Loved the pics /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Around here you can't do any type of free fall for the first 5 jumps. First 5 must be static line. I had been given a birthday gift of my first jump. Spent several hours in class on a 90° day, went to the equipment barn and got checked out. Spent the next few hours waiting on an available plane. The local jump club had all the planes tied up. Finally got off the ground at 4 PM or so. The ride up was great, 4 of us newbies on board. Of course I was the first to load up, I was the last to get out..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
All first jumps were to be at 2500' but since we had waited all day they took us up to 4500'. I scooted to the door, set my feet out on the pads, grabbed the wing strut and inched my way out. There are 2 hand prints painted on the wing strut, you need to be right there. Then there was the command from the Jump Master to look up, there is a big red dot painted on the underside of the wing, when you see the dot........LET GO!!!!!
Do you have any idea how hard it is to let go of the plane at that point?
To make it short........I looked up, let go, 25' later the static line pulled the chute. Looked up, I have a canopy, SWEET, no need for the emergency chute. Caught a "thermal" which will keep you from descending. I rode it out /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. When I hit the ground I was soaked from the rush. That rush is one memory I will never forget. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
