Yes, I know. The point of the link was that now you have an idea about how the hitch is supposed to work and the attachment place for the top link.

Maybe contacting the manufacturer can help you get the missing parts or at least the parts that need to be welded on.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info. Ill try and find out about replacement parts for their hitches, and at the very least I could call up a local metal shop and see if they can build one out of some 3/4 steel.

Since this was a 'my first tractor -- sure beats a mule' unit (similar to a 9n or Case VAC) the three point hitch was not available. That is what Mr Ferguson invented and licensed to Ford. That patent expired late 40's or early 50's.

IH used a 2 point hitch into the 70's for some models.

At model introduction, draw bars and stationary operations using a flat belt type pto were fairly standard. By 1954, 3 point was clearly the way to go for most folks (along with a draw bar) and the drive shaft type pto (safer, and could be used while on the go).

I would guess that the 2 point hitch was a conversion. I can't open your pictures, but the bracket attached to the differential looks added on to me. For general use, look around for an "I & C" manual. They are usually reprints of the original manuals and give you an idea of what was original and how it mounted (and the bolt dimensions).
