Old guy step

My TC 55 DA came with one step. The first order of business after the grill guard was to make a second step for the right side. I wonder... do they feel it is always convienent getting on from the left side ? Anything that lists for almost 40k should have this feature as standard equipment.

I guess they think it is a riding horse (always mount on the left side) not a work horse. With that thought I quess I should make one for the right side also.

I was considering getting the step hung up on something so I raised it a little from where I wanted it. There are no stumps here in the desert and no rocks on my property either. The step is about 2 inches under the front drive shaft level so maybe I created a built in safety Just have to watch where I a going,

Just a guess but maybe they want to keep loose clothing away from the joystick while you are dismounting the tractor.

That said there is a step on both sides of my Class III machine and I use both of them.

Yes - by all means watch out for clothing catching controls when getting on and off your tractor. Left mount/dismount is fine on my GC2300 - but not the right side - to much to catch onto.

Not a great problem in the summer, but in the winter with several layers and a heavy coat you can catch the HTS shift, bucket control, even the throttle. That combo could make for an interesting few moments.

Be careful out there.

It could be a hazzard but ......... I noticed they would sell you one for $90.00. Maybe they wanted to " catch " the dollar bills first !

Heavy strips of rubber, such as a conveyor belt a couple inches wide would allow you to drop it to the height you originally wanted. Too late for yours, but maybe some of the other old farts might consider it.
With age, also goes the eyesight, so watching out for something to keep from hitting the step is also a problem.
