Old Mack Trucks

The new museum location is in the Mack Customer Center which is closer to downtown Allentown-and the small airport as opposed to the big airport which is out off Rt. 22. The complex besides the museum I believe serves as a technical center and it is also the mod facility where trucks built in the Macungie plant get special equipment added to them. Worth a visit if you are ever in the Allentown area-just check the Mack website for museum hours.
The Queen City Airport on Vultee Street. Right close by to the "old 5C Mack plant".

The airport was used to support the effort during WWII. Do a search on Vultee Aircraft.

Mack also had production in a mill at the end of the Eighth Street Bridge that was also a silk mill at one time. I forget which was first but that plant was turned into an apartment complex.

Ever consider parting with a B-81SX ten wheel dump to be restored and run on the farm?

Ya, pretty much, though it's kinda hard to tell from that pic. The 9000's were a little more "stubby" and compact, narrower hood..

The yellow and black White would be a mid to late '60's 9000 with the corporate cab. The blue truck in your post is a 4464TD with the Coupe Cab.

White and Western Star are 2 different manufacturers, always have been. White motors (originally from Cleveland) and Western Star shared components but that's it. Western Star was in Kolona, British Columbia.

White was a fleet truck whereas Western Star was an owners operators truck.

.

I don't know how many years they were called "White Western Star", but they definitely were for a while.

That's a fine collection, great pics.

I had no idea that you could have two separate manufacturers with the same brand name.
Looks like they shared the same cab with A-car.

Since you guys obviously know more about trucks then I do...what happened to the COE (Cab over Engine) tractors that were prevalent several years back? I rarely see a COE Tractor-Trailer any more...

If you get in an accident with a COE, you are always the first one there. Don't know if it had anything to do with it though. I always felt better in a conventional.
