Old MTDs

I just found this forum by accident and would like to introduce myself. My name is Steve, I have been a spring maker for close to 30 yrs. I own 2 990 MTDs, one with a front end lift, and the other is one I bought in 1978 new with a 42 in deck and 54 in blade. My 78 is used to mow every week and removes snow in the winter. Motor has never been down and uses about a half of cup of oil a mowing season. I like working on it, but the parts are scarce and making parts is part of own one of these old guys. I would like to use the forum for questions and if anyone knows of parts it would be a great help. Thanks
