What precautions, along with what should we be doing when we run our older gasoline motors on this new ethanol fuel?

No problem with running it, its the storage and getting it to the motor. I would put a new fuel line setup on it ready for ethanol crap. Put a fuel shut off on it near the carb or whatever it has, and a fuel filter within 6" of the carb.

It attacks the rubber and metal parts on the system the most. If its seldom used piece of equipment I would use the fuel shut off to kill the engine by letting it run itself out of fuel when done to protect the carb.

I have ran into more than 10 times that a carb was gummed up and the fuel line going to it looked brand new. I took that line off and sliced it open with a box knife and it was softened and breaking down internally.

yep. really old engines might require a carb rebuild.. and if on rubber lines.. be prepaired to repalce them.. along with diphragm fuel pumps and such.

I remember when bio-blend diesel hit. had to go around and repalce orings in some of my diesels..

I also prefer to top of the tank after each use.

yep.. I do that now.. less room for air and thus water to condense.

PS.. my 6.0 ps has been fine since purging water from the tank.. just had a real wet tank there for a couple weeks

it was a pita a total of 3 times for me.

have confirmed and quad checked.. no coolant loss.. and no oil emulsion.. so egr and hg seem ok.

may still get the egr eliminate kit. have not ruled that out.

DO think I might have a bad glow plug or two though...

yes i work on lawn mowers at my shop and the main parts distrubtor for us came by the other day and we was talking about the 15 percent stuff and he said to start changing all fuel lines and like diamondpilot said put in a fuel shut off valve and if setting over winter to drain the fuel because if not u will be buying a carb if not a motor.
