Older John Deere or new branson

I was basing my opinion on the one older Branson I've used, and the experience we had getting it repaired.

It's good to know things have progressed in a positive direction.

For snow removal, hold out for a front mounted blower and a heated cab.

You’ll find out why the first time you come in looking like a snowman.

That Deere looks to be in excellent condition!
Wow....and only 450 hours!
That would not even be a question for me.

Ten years from now, the 2004 Deere could still be worth close to what you pay today.
Probably....not so, for a 10 year old Branson, with then finicky old electronics, and a soot cooker.

I have no axe to grind with Branson tractors.
I think they may be among the best of the new tractors out there.
I am just trying to be realistic about used v/s new tractor values.

Just to set the record straight, there are no "electronics" on the Branson. And that soot cooker comes right off.

Shhh, let him find out the hard way, like everyone else. Lol.

Snowblower + open station tractor = a lot of winter "fun".

I blew snow for years without a cab, After you master the chute you can limit snow getting on you. A lot of people can't afford a cab including myself so you need to get good at chute control. I have a soft cab and I saw snow on it once this winter and my blower is on the 3pth. I would think it would be easier to control the chute on the front of the tractor..

It's hard to not get snow on you if the wind is blowing hard but for the most part you can keep it off of you with some experience..

Honestly I would assume there are actually more electronics on the JD in question then a new Branson.
One of the many reasons I won’t buy an other JD is each and every single one I have owned has given me electrical problems at some point. When they started with adding all the electronic options I figured no more as they won’t be as easy to rewire when they get old!

Thanks for your input. Seems like pretty much everyone here agrees to go with the JD.

I was told that in 2004 there wasn't that much electical issues vs the newer ones.

Which electronic are you referring too. The Branson has a digital dash, along with an engine montoring system for the emission control ect.
