Older John Deere or new branson

Which electronic are you referring too. The Branson has a digital dash, along with an engine montoring system for the emission control ect.

Yes but it doesn't need it. You can just remove the data logger for the DPF and actually gut the DPF can and you are still able to run the tractor perfectly fine with no warning lights or whatever. Branson doesn't use computers to run the engine.

There are electronics on all modern tractors, some less than others but they all have electrical issues at some point. Tractors are housed outside, temps vary, humidity varies, rodents etc. The 04 will have less wiring/electronics than if you bought a new one today not to mention the lack of emissions which is a huge plus.

What we are trying to say is that the 2017 Branson and the 2004 JD probably have the same amount of electronics...

The Emissions Data logger is a completely standalone system, so it doesn't really count. If it will ever be a problem, just take it off along with the DPF can. The engine will breathe better.

I think that is exactly what he is trying to say.is yes the older tractors rely less on electronics than newer ones. What you are implying is that if something goes wrong with the Branson you will just jury rig it. The JD doesn't have that issue to deal with. Your not compareing apples to apples here.

And I'm saying that the Branson is exactly like the older tractors that don't rely on electronics to run. Unless a PTO switch, relay and a simple solenoid is such a big a deal... But I sure like the convenience of just flipping a switch to turn the PTO on.

I'm not implying nothing. I'm just saying, that if the DPF becomes a problem, it's easy to fix and it's not jury rig it. Even dealers recommend doing it. And that is just if it becomes a problem, which don't happen that often.

In the end, it's actually an apples to apples comparison.

The only thing "digital" on my 2017 model year Branson is the hour meter. The only difference between the way the new Bransons sold in the US operate, vs the new Bransons sold in the rest of the world operate, is that the US marketed models over 25 hp come with a soot cooker and a data logger. The only thing the "data logger" does is light the idiot light on the dash if the filter starts plugging up. It performs no "control" functions what so ever. They made no other changes to the US tractors. The reason this is important information, is because those 2 things are just added on to an existing tractor design. And they can be taken off again without interrupting the way the tractor functions in any way.

Honestly, if the OP likes the Deere better, than that is the tractor he should get. Totally fine. Nothing wrong with that Deere (other than price) in my opinion. Can't wait to hear his "snow report" next winter about how fun it is to blow snow on an open station tractor, but that's all on him to decide.

But telling the OP he shouldn't get the Branson because of "all the electronics" is a dump truck full of cow manure.

Branson is the only over 25hp tractor in the US market that meets Tier 4 using mechanical fuel injection. The tractor will run perfectly fine with the data logger disconnected. Mine was accidentally delivered with it unplugged. It ran fine and didn't even light a light on the dash.

But in this case the Deere with the snow blower seems like a good deal for the OP.

I would also get the Deere....IF you have a decent JD dealer near you.

My local dealer is not very good...and expensive to boot. I am buying a new tractor this week and took JD off the list quickly.

One last suggestion. Have them take the blower off and put it back on. I was going to buy a front blower until I saw the reality of making the switch. I know nothing about the unit you are buying but some blowers are not easy.

Good luck.

I had issues with the e hydro. Depending on the year might want to figure exactly where everything that has a wire goes to. Mine had to be split to be fixed.
