Richard,

It was mentioned in passing by someone else but
it bares repeating. Can you even have the car
towed if you don't own it? I was looking into some
property a few years ago that had several boats, cars,
and buses left on the land. There was a legal process
I would have had to go through to have the junk taken
without me holding the title. It was not hard, I think a
deputy could fill out the paperwork but it was something
I would have had to do...

You might want to make a call to the Sheriff or go through
your state statutes to cover yourself.

I thought everyone knew about TVA since you and I pay for them. They are one of the bigger pork barrell projects that the US Congress has funded with lots of federal tax dollars.

I think he needs to drag it to the side of the road and let the cops have it towed. It's not on his property. As far as having cars towed you don't own on your property, down here in Texas they are really liberal on private property towaways. If you park your car on the street in front of my gate I can have it towed. I just have to call a wrecker and sign a form. Apartment houses and businesses have a wrecker company put up a towaway sign and they don't even have to have managment or someone in charge sign a form. The wrecker drives by and if a car is in the zone near the sign it's gone. They've been known to tow cars that are nowhere near the sign, it's the wrecker driver's word against the car owners. To scrap that car all you have to do is pull the engine, gas tank and wheels and drag it across the scales. If the engine is still in it you need to show the title.

Kelvin..you actually hit on something that I thought of yesterday and am now going to wait unti next week. I want to get someting in writing from TVA 'giving me permission" to have the car on their land towed. I think I've decided that if I dont get that, I wash my hand of the whole thing.

The FIRST time I spoke with them, they said they might charge me about $75.00, the second time I called to better hone out the details, I spoke with another person there (wife of owner and it's her SON that does the pick up job..) and MOM said they would get it for nothing...

Dang.. just like being at home with my wife..I think I'm getting by with something and I get SOOOO busted.. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
