This was Lucy's first trip to the mountains. She took to them like a duck to water. I'm not so sure who had the most fun, her or me. But that duramax and allison seemed to find their own as we went over around and thru traffic.

We caught Phoenix during their rush hour. Phoenix must have a lot of Texans. If you're doing eighty you might should had ought to not be in the left lanes. You're impeding traffic.

Yesterday, Thursday the sixteenth, was not one of those good days, amongst the diamonds occasionally you'll find some coal.

Dad and me were trucking north on seventeen out of Phoenix to Cottonwood so he could get his allergy shot. Fuel prices in Phoenix still have to be the highest in the nation. I figured a fill up in Cottonwood would save me at least ten-fifteen cents a gallon.

Yesterday morning at daylight I washed Lucy and put a coat of wax on her. Maybe I should have oughta. After pulling sixty five on the six percent part of the Black Canyon grade along with seventy five eighty she just died at seventy seven on the flats just north of Cordes Junction.

I was just telling my dad that I was getting super mileage out of this tank when the power went off. After we were off the road I pumped the primer pump like I might have had the gauge die and accidently ran out of fuel. I'd put in five gallons from an emergency can I carry.

She lit and ran for about a minute. I called for the tow.

Lucy is sitting at Midway Chevrolet in Phoenix. They will get a chance today to scan her and see what's up. I'm driving a four door Hemi Dodge half ton from Enterprise.

I started to get out the Sony and take some pictures of the event. Then pride entervened, it'll do that.

Today will be a business day for me. I'm going to get in touch with as many fence and farm building companies as possible. I've got literature and free samples of the stuff we're making back home.

What's crazy is here in the valley of the sun there seems to be at least ten times the market for my fence and barn stuff than there is in the Dallas area. Go figure.

One of the great things about these vacations is being around my dad. Wednesday we were talking about where we lived in Phoenix when I was a kid where dad worked. That was in the fifties. It turns out the business is still operating. So we went over and I asked if any of the original owner's sons was around. One was. It was great. Dad, the son, and me talking about the old days.

I don't know what's up with dad's internet service provider but almost anytime I've tried to surf TBN it wouldn't. It would just sit there and if it did load up it took forever. Patience is the only virtue I didn't stand in line for a second helping.

This morning it's trucking, for dial up. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sorry to here of Lucy's illness /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif but good to read you get to spend time with your dad. I miss mine(passed away in '95) but now I get to be the "dad" to our children and that more than makes up for it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That thing got a hemi? Ha ha. So how are your impressions of it. No comparrison to Lucy, of course, but a review after your trip might be appreciated by others. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
