Well maybe I had just gotten a bad batch of the Grip-Rites, but I tried 5 more and I rounded all of them putting them in to 2x4's.
But I did get a box of GRK, and used ~1/4 of the box and not 1 problem.

I've had the same bad experience with Grip-Rite screws. Last box I bought the first 15 or so I used broke off long before screwing all the way into a 2x4. ...yeah, I took them back. No more Grip-Rite's for me, thank you.

I had to look online to know what brand I'm buying. The Deck Plus screws from Lowes are the ones I like the best. Home Depot sells Deckmate, and the 5 pound box that I bought there last week had some bad ones in there. I haven't bought much from Home Depot since the Shut Down, for whatever reason, they really fell apart then and never got their act together since then. I know that I've bought Grip Rite screws before, but I don't know when, or for what. I just recognize the name. 90% of the time, I'm buying Deck Plus screws from Lowes.

Both Grip Rite and Deck Mate exterior screws have been ok for me, but haven't bought any in a few years. I have been using GRK recently.
