I'll check that when I next need the the tractor, good catch. I think you've had your tractor for a while, so that could have just loosened with use. Another one I always check now. On the removable drawbar, it's held on by 2 lynch pins which are secured by cotter pins on the bottom. While I was brushogging one day, I looked back to see a cotter pin laying on the ground. I paniced 'cause I thought it had come from the tranny linkages, but some brush had just snagged it off the lynch pin. I now have the bar off unless I have to use it specifically.

I turned my pin over and inserted it from the bottom, that way the hairclip pin is protected now on top of the drawbar where brush cannot snag it and pull it off.

Yes, If I ever need to go into the brush with the drawbar, I will flip it over, not a guarantee, but better.

This thread made me check mine last nite. I had about 15 hrs of drilling post holes this weekend. When I took the auger off last nite I backed into the shop and checked everything real good. Everything was tight and looked good. One other thing checked while under there is where the ubolts hold the rops on the axle.

Update: The M10 (1.25 thread pitch) x 20mm long bolt with a lock washer worked fine, and reassembly was a snap. I used blue Loctite just in case I ever (for some unknown reason) want to take those pins out.

I lost one of those too(bolt and pin). When I replaced it I Loctite-ed both sides and have not had any problems in several years.

A couple of years ago, I noticed that I didn't even have a drawbar anymore. It is always possible that somebody stole it, but I still keep hoping I'll stumble upon it out in a field some day....before I break down and order the exorbitantly-priced OEM parts, that is.

Isn't the drawbar a pretty generic item? Fortunately I haven't lost one yet!

I'd be happy to find out that drawbars are one or several standard sizes, but I don't want to buy one and find out I can't use it.

The problem with this approach is that, although having the hairclip snag is less likely, if it DOES happen then the pin falls right out and you lose the drawbar. Chances are better the pin won't come out even if the hairclip is snagged if it goes in from the top.

So I do one from the top and one from the bottom. :laughing:
