I'll go 'ya one better. Put a loop in a piece of Mason's line and slide it to the top collar on the pin, then tie the other end to the hairclip pin. Insert pin through drawbar and then put hairpin in place. If/when hairpin gets snagged then it will hang down and not be lost, in most cases.
I would think a drawbar for one's specific tractor, or even a generic one would not be hard to match up for a reasonable price, in most instances. Even a used one from a tractor yard?
