my blades are set half inch below skids for front blade and level with skids for back blade. I have a couple of bolt hole positions on the sides to adjust height if needed but the current setup seems to work well for my use. I used grader blades for both the cutting blades and for the skids. Knowing how much it takes to wear out a set of grader blades, I don't think that I will ever need to worry about down adjustment for wear but I do have extra bolt holes to adjust lower if needed. The longer and heavier the better for your build in my opinion.
