my blades are set half inch below skids for front blade and level with skids for back blade. I have a couple of bolt hole positions on the sides to adjust height if needed but the current setup seems to work well for my use. I used grader blades for both the cutting blades and for the skids. Knowing how much it takes to wear out a set of grader blades, I don't think that I will ever need to worry about down adjustment for wear but I do have extra bolt holes to adjust lower if needed. The longer and heavier the better for your build in my opinion.

So part of the effectiveness is the material flowing over the cutters?
Maybe i need to see one operate in person to wrap my head around it but that seems like it would just lift the excess material over the blade and still leave clumps behind it.

Something to keep in mind whenever doing dirt work. Moisture content can make HUGE differences with how the material reacts to what is being done to it.

1st pic is in dry ground, the materials is cut and flows freely over the cutting edges.

2nd pic is with damp ground, material does not flow as freely, but compacts down much better.

Did you make your landplanes?

Did you make your landplanes?

No, I believe they were built by Road Master. At the time 20+ years ago, a head to head competitor to Road Boss. Road Master is looooooooooooong out of business. :(
