One night of roudyness leads to cops coming every night

So my question is this. Does the nighbour see you or HEAR you?
You have stated you have been working on the truck and perhaps it now needs better mufflers.
If your turck is quiet then I would call the police to come out and hear it for themselves.
If it is quiet then they can contact the person phoning to tell them to stop.

Nice truck. Is it loud?

Sometimes folks my age ...65... get a first bad impression and then think there's trouble in the neighbor hood. Just try to keep things quiet. Keep doing favors for neighbors and try to get to know them and let them get to know you. Hopefully it blows over.

Don't confront. That will not lead to anything good.

It has mufflers on it. And it is not half as loud as all the HARLEYS that rip up and down my road everyday and night.

Let me add that I was 18 once. I took my first car around the block and tried to do a burn out but it just wouldn't get it. A neighbor came down that we didn't know and let into me. He said I was burning rubber which I wasnt. He was concerned about some young punk driving stupid in the neighborhood. My Dad came out and calmed things down and told the guy he would handle it.

Dad was cool just told me to cool it a bit and that I should be concerned about my reputation.

I cooled it.

Even without mufflers, as long as it is between 7 and dark, I don't see the problem. I would guess it's someone who doesn't like the fact you have the truck and are working on it, over any actually being bothered by the sound. I would ask the cop next time, politely, what the ordnance is that your violating. If you can find out who is calling, I would let them know your business is none of theirs.

What do the police say is the reason they are coming to your house? Is there some sort of noise ordinance you are violating? Are they being called due to reckless driving? etc.
Also is the area you live a town, city, rural neighborhood or what?

Like you this would quite annoy myself (and I don't drive anywhere near as quietly as you claim you do - I have a newer mustang with loud pipes, very loud when I get on it, which I don't do in the neighborhood. That said generally no car/truck is as loud as the Harley's are that everyone my age seems to own now

)

Ask the police why you are being reported - clarify so you can avoid it (get it documented)
Then you may need to file a harassment complaint - just you currently don't know if the harassment is from the police or a neighbor!

Nice truck as for the neighbors and cops wouldn't worry with either,doesn't sound like your doing anything wrong. Leave the house with a smile in it and wave at the neighbors. Myself I would drive it more,maybe daily and once the visitors stopped then I would go back to the way it was every now and then

So I decided if I was going to pull this year with it that I was gonna put a better intake with a Holley carb on it. So me and a couple buddies got together one day and did just that. We got it all back together and tuned and timed in real good, we were drinking a little bit and my buddy is like "do a burn out". So in MY OWN driveway. I did two big smokey burn outs. One up the driveway and one back down it. 10 minutes later cops show up. Claims someone driving by reported it So he tells us to pack it in for the night. No problem. We put it back in the garage and we're done for the night.

So a few days go by. I come home from work. Start the truck up. Pull it out of the garage, let it sit there and idle and warm up. Then shut it back off. As I start to wash it, cop pulls up the driveway, another noise complaint he says I explain exactly what I just did and yet all he replies with is, "well just keep in mind were watching you and logging every time we have to come out here". So next day, I leave to go help someone move something with the truck, 20 minutes later fiancé calls me and said cop is there knocking on door. Same thing. I told her to tell the cop exactly what i just did and to demand to get the name of the people who keep calling cause I want to confront them.

I don't know what else to do.
