One night of roudyness leads to cops coming every night

Right now - I hear the train, about a mile or so to the west of me and that's all. I have two "neighbors" - one owns massive acreage abutting my north & east property lines & the other owns property abutting my south & west property lines. They are both cattle ranchers and their homes are miles away. I soon expect to hear a pack or two of the coyotes that roam out here. They always greet the morning with whoops, cries and howls. I see all the cows that graze the land around me more than hear them and the "cow smells" - well, we just call that - the smell of money.

Otherwise - its so quiet here - you can hear the morning dew evaporating off the field grass.

I think I might have a suspicion what's going on here,

The people I bought my house from, live caticorners from me, they knew my grandparents for years. That is in part what got my foot in the door in buying this house. After we closed on the house, the first summer I lived here, they were the nicest people ever. Bringing me veggies and eggs from a family members farm, inviting me up for dinner neumerous times ect. Well one night they wanted me to come up by myself and have a talk with me. Come to find out that their septic was failing and since my house is the last house on the road to be on the local sewer system, they wanted me to "OKAY" a right of way for them to come down through my yard and tap into the sewer that way. Before I agreed to anything I told them I needed to do some research into it and I would get back to them. I talked to a family member who is a contractor and told me the only way I should allow them to do that is if there is some kind of mometary agreement. So I told them that in order for me to allow them a right of way I would need $xxxxx. Well all of a sudden they changed their mind and didn't wanna do it anymore. And now I am realizing I haven't been invited up to dinner since. And their son just joined the local police force although he is not the one who shows up every time.

And these neighbors also know that truck is my pride and joy....cause they don't say a dam thing about my 4 cylinder rice burner with a fart can exhaust start up every morning at 4am to go to work.

I'm going to hazard a guess here and say that maybe some of your activities etc have upset the quiet little "neighborhood" you moved into. You say you got preferential treatment(your foot in the door) on the purchase of the house - you have a live-in fiancé - you have a beautiful pickup and did one burn out in your driveway - you have a motorcycle with a "fart can exhaust" that you fire up at 4am - you didn't "give" the neighbors the easement they asked for.

In today's tight as**d society - any one of these items could irritate a neighbor and make them want to "get even".

I suggest that you make your peace with the local LEO's and otherwise just grin and bear it. Time tends to heal all wounds.

Oftentimes there comes a tipping point and your regular 0400 departures on your "fart can" equipped motorcycle may have had them teetering on the edge already when you introduced your loud truck into the equation. Once you cross a line, sometimes you just can't easily go back to the way things once were. If you and I were neighbors, I don't think either of us would be very happy.

In an earlier thread on loud vehicles, I recall one fellow said that he pushed his Harley to the end of the residential street before starting in the morning. In the interest of happy neighbors.

To the original poster. Have you considered one of your neighbors could be a day sleeper. Maybe works in a hospital or Fire or LEO? My neighbor to the south works 12 your shifts at the hospital at night. I limit my mowing and chainsaw, weedeater work to after 4 pm when she gets up to get ready for work.

Just a thought on why so many complaints.

Ahh. The rest of the story.

You blew by not coming to a mutable agreeable term for the right of way, and by having loud vehicles. It was more than a couple of burnouts. That was just the last straw.

Get your vehicles quiet and be respectful of your neighbors and elders.

It wasn't even that we couldn't come to an agreement. They wanted something for nothing, whether it was 10 dollars or 10,000 they didn't wanna pay for it. But when the guys wife ran for state representative, guess who allowed them to put a big poster in their front lawn "supporting her". We live along a very busy state route...my vehicles are not anywhere near loud as the thousands of motorcycles/cars and trucks that go by it every day.

Nice truck as for the neighbors and cops wouldn't worry with either, doesn't sound like your doing anything wrong. Leave the house with a smile in it and wave at the neighbors. Myself I would drive it more, maybe daily and once the visitors stopped then I would go back to the way it was every now and then:D

I agree.
