Uh difference is one doesnt exist. There are 2 strokes and four strokes.. 2 strokes make power every revolution and 4 strokes make powere every other due to cams intake and exhaust valves.

Did you mean one lung, as in hit and miss?
I know there's a whole community devoted to those gizmos.

A piston engine must have at least two strokes. The piston goes down, one stroke. The piston goes up, second stroke.

Two stroke engines have two strokes power=down compression =up.

Four stroke engines have four strokes: power= down; exahust = up; intake=down 2nd time; compression=up 2nd time.

Dunnow maybe a rotary engine could be a one stroke. But it actually has four phases which are for all practical purposes strokes.

One that stops after 1/2 revolution.:D

There are several designs of 1 stroke engines. They accomplish all 4 regular cycle stages in 1 revolution, usually involving multiple pistons in 1 cylinder. A Sterling cycle engines comes to mind. There are others....
