Check out our Dealer Directory for dealers, what they sell, and how far.

You can also e-mail them from TBN right there.

Neophite:

I recommend Woodbury Tractor in Woodbury CT. Bob Wolf, the owner is very knowledgable and honest.

They sell used tractors, and also new Kubota and New Holland.

I'm in New Jersey, and I just bought my new L-3130 from him.

In my opinion, there is no real advantage in dealing with an "internet" dealer vs. Woodbury Tractor.

Neophyte, I can highly recommend Corriher I bought a new TC30 from them. See the thread welcoming Corriher to TBN under NH Buying/Pricing.

I am in the middle of purchasing a tc24 from Corriher. There having some trouble getting a bh for me, but I have told them from the start I am in no hurry. Every time I talk with them they are very polite and helpful. It should be another week or two before everything is settled. Check back with me then.

As I noted above, I bought from Carver and I am very pleased. I will say that there were a couple of mix ups (like they sent the wrong top link) but they took care of the issues and shipped me new items right away. They were very professional in taking care of my needs. As you can see I live in NY and they are in NC. I found them searching for used Kubota's and came across their site. I requested a quote from them and several others dealers including local ones, but they were the best price including the delivery here to NY.

The only potential concern I have is if I need Warranty work, will I be able to get it done relatively locally (ie. within 50 or so miles I have 3 dealers). Time will only tell if a need for warranty happens. I currently have 50 hours on the unit (in fact was doing service tonight, and found out half way through the local dealer gave me wrong oil filter so it sits out there waiting for me to go back tomorrow to get correct one).

Good luck, and make sure you consider the warranty repair in your equation. I did and decided it was worth the gamble. Hopefully I am right. But you definately have to figure that in the equation or you will not be satisfied long term.

Surfran,

Interestingly enough, I contacted Carver and they sent a reply back saying that they cannot quote me on a Kubota. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif They stated that Kubota has asked that they no longer sell outside of their service area. They said they could quote me a Kioti but not a Kubota. Unfortunately, I had my mind set on one of the big three.

It's too bad, I think online dealers have a place in this market and they help keep local dealers reasonable. Has anyone else heard anything along these lines?

Actually someone had mentioned a while back that Kubota was cracking down on this, but I thought that it was just a price thing so now they had the $500 less if your a NC customer.

This type of thing is how you get "bad" dealers in an area that can stay in business. When their area is guarded it allows them to take the "take it or leave it" attitude. I wonder how far Kubota will take it? 2 of the dealers I have in a 50 mile radius are out of state in PA. I wonder can they sell to me now?

Oh well I am glad I got mine when I did, and that is a shame for Carvers, as they were a class act throughout my dealings with them.

Good luck with your search.

Neophite, I live in NH and I do field service so I have had the opportunity to visit several big three dealers in New England. I can tell you if you are not interested in paying near full retail for a tractor don't waste your time looking in Maine,Vermont or New Hampshire. If you pick up a copy of Uncle Henrys weekly swap it sell it guide, under farm and garden many of the local dealers advertise there. I have had the most favorible experience in Mass the dealers in the Boston region they seem more willing to discount.

As far as web sites I have deleted a lot in my favorites due to the arrogant attitude of the dealership. Here are some I still have.

www.wallingfordequipment.com (Kubota)
www.hammondtractor.com (Deere,Kubota)
www.wescotts.com (Kubota)
www.rsosgood.com (Kubota)
www.unionfarmequip.com (Kubota)

Scamman Tractor in Saco has given me the best quote on a NH but they have no web support tel#1-800-264-5544

Best quote on a Deere 1A equiptment in Norfolk MA tel# 508-384-8157

Best quote on a Kubota Torkeu Tractor in Harvard MA tel#978-772-6619

Hope this helps, Steve

Stvman,

Thanks for the reply. I have been checking Uncle Henrys for both new and used tractors. You are right about the Tri-State area tractor dealers being so high. The ones in New Hampshire seem to be the worst. I got prices from Chappell Tractor on NH and Rosencrantz on Deere and they were outrageous! I did not get any prices on Kubota from MB Tractor but if they are anything like the other New Hampshire dealers, I don't need to bother.

I have talked with most of the ones on your list except for Hammond Tractor. They were all in the same ball park (+/- $500). Scammon was the lowest for me as well but I get hit with sales tax if I buy in Maine.

I have not talked with the dealers you mentioned out of Mass. I will give them a call when I get a chance. Do you know of any competitive NH dealers outside of Maine?

Thank you.

Did you talk to Chappell in Milford or Brentwood? I have talked to both, the Salesman in Milford is so anti NewHolland I dont know why they even sell them. The guy in Brentwood only sells NewHolland because he is too close to MB in Plastow and can't sell Kubota, but he seems to be a real nice guy. He told me if I had a firm quote from someone else he would try to match it. But there is no way I would beat up on one dealer for his best price then bring the quote to Chappell.

And you are absolutely correct MB has by far the highest prices in the northeast, Chappell is a close second. I did get a very good responce from Whites Farm Supply in NY www.whitesfarmsupply.com I believe it was Art I spoke to but its been quite a while. We never got down to firm prices but he is much lower than Chappell and actually likes NewHolland tractors.

I would also suggest you check out Corriher Implement in NC it is a little far but I checked them out when I visited my brother in Charlotte. I really like the southern tractor dealers they are much more down to earth. I called Carver equipt. in Dunn NC after hours one night ended uptalking to Steve Carver for two hours, he is a real nice guy. I think Kubota is making a huge mistake in clamping down on dealers like him from selling out of their territory.
