Online tv question

I bought the Firestick over a month ago, and still having switched to it from ROKU. Prices on the ROKU have been creeping up, so it's something I want to do, I just haven't felt like dealing with it.
Why switch from the ROKU to Firestick? That is kinda going backward.
Of course, I do not know the vintage of each unit,,

My ROKU is about ~6-10 years old,, the last I looked, there was no Firestick close to the ROKU resolution-wise.

Programming prices are identical,, and typically, the resolution of the ROKU is better.

Hmmmmmmmm,,,

The 4k fire stick was on sale a few months ago for $30. I don't think there is much difference. I went with the 2k fire sticks for my old 1080p TV sets, which turned them into smart TVs, but think I would be happy with Roku. We have a 50" TV on the wall in the master bedroom that has a great picture. I have been told that most streaming services actually stream 1080 and interpolate to 4k anyway, so you don't really get the additional resolution they charge you for.

ROKU is tied to DirectTV through AT&T, which is who my wife uses for her Cell Phone. There is a monthly fee that has been going up. It was $40 a month when we started, but now it's $60 a month.

,,,,,,,, and, by the time you add taxes, and fees,, there is almost no way to get any programming offer that includes Fox News, for less than $78.

My wife really likes Fox News, we can afford it, so we pay $78 a month for an entire package,,
just to get her the news she likes.

Virtually all of our other TV watching is Netflix, and Amazon.

We use Dish satellite as well as Hulu, Paramount+, Prime and just cancelled Netflix. My issue is jumping from one streaming source to another. Takes so much time compared to flipping on Dish.

Maybe you haven't 'looked' since you purchased that Roku... Firestick has had 4K since at least 2018, which is when I first purchased one. And I don't pay a premium for stuff like that so it had to be out for a while to come down to a reasonable price. Feature for feature the Roku and Firestick are pretty much on par with each other.

Buy what you like, recommend what you like. But if you're not sure on details...

Not sure if you're talking about just DirecTV packages or any streaming service, but YouTube TV has Fox and is $64.99 ($69.78 after tax). That's a little better in cost.
