Hydro locking is when an engine is flopped or turned over oil from the crankcase flows past the rings and into the cylinder. You can also hydrolock an engine by going into water that's too deep and water is sucked into the intake and then the cylinders. Since liquids don't compress when the piston comes up on a compression stroke there is no where for anything to go so something has to give as in pistons, rods (usually) etc. Often a rod breaks off and pokes a hole in the block. Any kind of hydro locking whether it's from crankcase oil, fuel or water though the intake of coolant will ruin your day so avoid it if at all possible.
