Open carry / firearm handy

Around the farm, on my tractor, in my truck I carry a Judge, 00 buck shot, and self defense rounds alternating. Going to the city, or out for a trip, my FNH .45 tactical, or SW .45 with a custom bowie knife under the opposite shoulder. I just don't feel comfortable if I don't feel safe...

I love it, Crocodile Dundee style!

I don't carry on the tractor, but do most every where else. Good idea to have several guns scattered in strategic locations in the house. I figure if I'm on the tractor, I would just let 'em have it with the FEL.

Very interesting thread and I'm impressed seeing everyone so respectful of others thoughts and opinions on the matter. I am surprised to see even a single anti-gun post on a tractor forum. Not because I don't know anti-gunners are everywhere but because to me, a gun is a tool, similar to a tractor. Although, we all hope to use our tractors regularly and hope we never have to use our gun. I've been around guns my entire life and have never seen one jump out of the holster and shoot anything. It's a tool that a human uses for many purposes. I've only killed with one a few times for defense. The last time was probably ten years ago when a rattler had my little terrier cornered in her dog house. The only time I ever pointed one at another human was probably 20 years ago at a rental when a guy walked up looked around suspiciously and started to go under the home. It turns out the owner sent him to make sure the pipes were insulated as it was supposed to freeze that night. The rest of the time we lived there the landlord always called to let us know if we would be getting a visitor. LOL

Point is, it is just a tool, a precautionary measure that in most cases, all of us hope we never need. :confused3:

I usually carry my Glock even when riding my tractor. I have a paddle holster that hangs on my belt and top of my pants that can easily be rotated to the front when I sit down on my tractor.

I always thought that quote was from Judge Roy Bean. So I looked it up and its from The Guns of Will Sonnett. All Walter Brennan, at least!
Jim

I remember this show well a distant cousin was the co- star. I believe he later star in Sword of Justice.

The point is to hide your gun from a potential thug so you may get the chance to "SUPRISE" him/her and get to KILL someone.

With your gun out in the open your chances are GREATLY reduced and you may never get to shoot anyplace other then a range.

Since no one has stated the obvious, SNAKES!, I carry on the tractor because we got snakes down here in Florida that will carry your butt off.

Weapon of choice for this task is a single shot 410 Harrison and Richardson.
