I've lived out here in the Scabrock country now for 35+ years and NEVER once have I ever needed a weapon. Been a few times I wished I had my 'ol Winchester 30-30 - - coyotes. I don't know what it is, but around here we just don't seem to go around shootin' each other very often.

You ever come across a wild hog?

Why would you shoot a bobcat?
That is the LAST animal I would ever shoot.

Protect my dogs, cats, and chickens.

There are five animals I kill on sight on my farm:

Coyotes, skunks, raccoons, possums and copperheads. If I saw a bobcat, I'd assess which direction it's going and how close it is to my pets and chickens. If in doubt, it's dead.

I shoot ferel hogs every chance I get. Coyotes, poisonous snakes anywhere near where I or the family would be threatened, skunks when I can get a kill shot without the spray, wolves if they were coming close, most other things I would let pass.

I trap gophers.

Some things I don’t shoot: deer, birds, except some destructive species, squirrels, coons, possums, armadillos unless they are acting sick, etc.

i see a lot of fear in some of these posts. fear of animals, and of those who may not be within your political belief system. your answer? kill as many animals that you feel encroach your space, and degrade those who are not aligned with your political beliefs. and by all means, carry a weapon where ever you go....my oh my.

isn't there enough hate & finger pointing going on in the country already right now? is it always some one else's fault?
& the 2nd amendment will never be repealed.

Typical gun banner projection: If you want to protect yourself and/or family and property, you must live in "fear" or worse, must live in "hate". Simple and ignorant projection, nothing more.

The ones who really live in fear are those that hide behind words like "peace" and "love" because they know they don't trust themselves with a firearm. And since they can't trust themselves with a firearm, they have to denigrate those that can and do.

I don't shoot any critters unless there's no other option. Even a groundhog that decided to set up house keeping in an out building is safe. I did put a .22LR round behind him (or her) last summer to give it some motivation to stay outside the fence line...that's about the limit.
Now, I didn't write I wouldn't kill a critter....but only if absolutely necessary

I agree. At this point in life I would only kill as a last resort of defense or a mercy killing.

Oh, that never happens around here! You don't need to carry a weapon. Well someone does, and when they do it can save you some grief! This was apparently some truck driver who stopped in to kill some folks.

Well, maybe I would feel different if I had chickens and goats; I don't.
We have bees.
I have just ran into so many guys that shoot at every thing that moves, just for something to shoot at.
I shoot rats, grey-diggers, skunks and gophers.
THE LAST thing that I would ever shoot are predators that spend 24 / 365 eating annoying rodents.
Coyotes, bobcat, cougar, owls, eagles, hawks and herron are all VERY welcome to live and eat annoying rodents on our property.
I say; don't complain about annoying rodents if you are killing the predators that eat them.
