Fortunately, we live in a country where a person does have options on how they choose to be safe.

BTW - M5farms, I don't live in Cheney - I live in Amber. Look at the stats for Amber in your report.

Midniteoyl - some times there is no accounting for those folk that live on the west side. H*LL, I've had visitors from Seattle that wouldn't drink my country water because its not chlorinated & fluoridated. And since they were out here in the "wilds" - they were probably carrying also.

Honestly, the most serious "attack" I've experienced in the 35 years here. The neighbors Angus bull head butted my pickup as I was going down my driveway.

it pulled up cheney/amber and your part of the world is very similar to mine . Especially 20 yrs ago but as farmers retired or died the offspring split and sold parcels and were getting over run with (people) that move from other parts that seem to bring an element with them. being we are heave AG we get our fair share of migrant workers most are good but there are some bad apples in that bunch too. It not uncommon to have a strange dog on our property and most are friendly but Ive had to euthanize quite a few over the years killing my animals . in that scenario you have to act in a timely manner or the opportunity is over.

I taught the "Women's Handgun Seminar" At a local Bass Pro for about 10 years. I grew up with a pistol in my hand, or nearby. But trying to explain to someone why ones "worldview" would think it a good idea to be prepared is pretty much a waste of time. If they don't think that way on their own, nothing you are going to say is going to convince them.

Of the women that came to the Seminars, a very large and significant percentage were NOT pro gun or wanted anything to do with a firearm, until IT happened. What IT was varied from being accosted, threatened, beaten, or flat out raped. Yep, lots and lots of rape victims. The majority of them went to my Wife's shooting lane and took instruction from her, because they did not want a male instructor. Yes, I have seen and heard it all. This was quite a few years ago, and while some of the women just wanted to learn, because they thought it would be neat, most that came, had "something " prompt the session.
That something, was bad enough to make them overcome their fear, and overcome their bias against firearms, and be willing to put the effort into learning how to defend themselves.

Of all my years I have only needed a firearm a few times. And I have never shot anyone or even shot at anyone. The few times I have drawn it was enough to stop or in most cases preclude the fight. I hope to get thru this without ever having to defend my life with lethal force. I do my very best to "stay out of trouble". And in most cases you can see trouble coming a mile away. But not always. Evil can find you if it wants to. It has darkened my door a few times.

So for those of you that have "boggled minds", or otherwise doubt the wisdom of being prepared, good for you. You can see life any way you want to. I am perfectly happy with you not having, or not carrying or even hating firearms. I just don't care. I am good with your opinion. Just don't try to take my right to think, and do differently.

I was dismayed when the law was enacted banning the cheap "Saturday Night Specials." I think that was signed by President Clinton.

Those cheap guns cost something like $40. There was an outcry because the guns would frequently jam, not fire, etc. And they were prevalent among the criminals because they were so cheap. I was upset because a frequently jamming gun is exactly the type of gun I want my local criminal dirtbag to carry. Something less likely to go *boom* when the trigger is pulled.

Suprised the Aussie does not carry, 'bout the only place with more deadly snakes than S Tex. I rarely went out with out carrying (Colt SA 22), Copperhead, Rattler and Cottonmouth, killed MANY riding/walking fence, down at the lake, chicken yard, tack room, you name it...you don't go out without a gun or have one near, you will need it!
