"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet." Quotes from Mad Dog Mattis

Well stated for a man in his position.

That is probably the most important.

No, the most important is k owing when you have no choice and being able to discern the difference quickly.

Obviously a lot of people do not feel safe unless armed. I would hate to be in fear of cats that are after mice while I'm bushhogging. But now I'm starting to be concerned about all the people that are carrying and hope they are keeping up with their meds.

it is not a fear of cats. There are areas where feral cats are taking over. Some places have reported feral cat populations as high as 1000 per square mile. It is predator control of an invasive species.

I have a saying that is "one person's paranoia is another person's situational awareness.

If a person is walking up to a corner and a car is coming. One person would stop and see what that car is going to do before proceeding across the road. another would walk out in front of the car and expect it to stop. The problem is the person that would stop to observe the car is labeled crazy and paranoid by the person that just walked out in front of the car. And that is why somebody that doesn't carry of gun can't perceive the mindset of somebody that does, Gun carriers tend to play, if this happens I will do this. But when that person tries to discuss that what if, with somebody that doesn't understand the mindset, they get labeled as a nutjob.

not on a tractor . on my way home from work on the main highway in my part of the world yesterday about 6 miles from the house I see someone standing in the middle of the road. No vehicles nearby and he is focused on me with a strange look. I attempt to pull to the shoulder and he steps in from of my truck . I have no choice but to stop. I pull my gun and am holding in in me hands and roll the window down . he steps around the vehicle and I ask his what do you he need. He says "How are you doing " I sad Fine he said "good" and walked off. we are a very rural community I can only assume he was HIGH on something. You never know when you will face something where you would have to defend yourself. I could have went into the ditch but with his state of mind I don't know if he would have darted to try and get me to run over him.

This is why we need national right to carry where every state recognizes everyone's concealed carry license as they do a drivers license. Self protection does not end at your state line. My wife and I do long road trips and I'm afraid to carry due to laws and afraid not to due to crime.

I'm just very glad I live in a community/area where nobody has to carry to feel safe. Believe me, I own sufficient guns, both long and hand, to start a second revolution. I will have a gun with me if I go out on my property looking for something - either two legged, four legged or scaly belly.

If you live in a community where its only safe when you carry, then get proper training and keep current with your skill set.

EVERY single community in the country has criminals in it. I don't carry to feel safe , I carry to protect myself and my loved ones. Yesterday is a prime example In my 50 yrs I have never seen anything like that. I have seen similar in the city I work in but not in our community. Does your vehicle have a spare tire ????

I have been observing my community and surrounding area becoming less and less safe every year. More and more gang related crime and crime in general. Springfield, our large city to the north 30 miles seems to have an ever increasing crime problem. Gang shootings, car jackings etc. But Branson where I live is not immune either. The scourge of drugs in our area, both the usage and the manufacturing seems to be growing.

My carry guns are tools I put them on when I get dressed and take them off when I get undressed. They carry the same if I am on a tractor or doing the dishes.

I have carried them for years and never needed them, used from time to time for tasks but never anything very important. However, with my luck, the day I don't carry one will be the one day I would need it. Same thing with a pocket knife, or wallet, I don't use either all the time but still cart them around.

Curious for those who say they carry wherever they go and always, what do you do in the bedroom? And do you carry concealed there, if so where is it concealed, or do you just put it on the dresser, and if so is that close enough if something goes drastically wrong? Same question applies when in the shower/hot tub, swimmin' hole, etc....
And from my POV, it would seem the thing to teach people who might actually be interested, is how to not bring a gun to a situation where NOT using it could be a problem. For those taking long road trips who fear being in States that don't allow you to carry concealed or otherwise, how about taking shorter road trips and not going to places that don't align with your particular vision of how the world should be for everybody, so long as it's your world view that dominates?

And the guy who says the dog that chases him is no longer a problem; is that to say you shoot your neighbor's dog(s) when they chase you, and that puts an end to the problem?

And a jet falling on one's house- now that probably calls for a meds eval at a minimum?!:confused2::rolleyes:
