9 5/8" a .312 diameter.

you say on my side, as in. because of their length, they have more of a chance to bow and fold / bend, vs something else breaking?

Yes in this instance imo it helped.

Soundguy, it's been more years than I care to admit since I did any engine work (like you are confronted with today), so I'll just throw this out there. It seems suspicious to me that you would get 4 valves to stick simultaneously from a bad gas issue. Is the crank rotating normally or could the engine have jumped timing causing piston/valve interference? I know you said you had to free the valves up but I'm thinking if they bottomed out against the pistons that could have jammed them in the guides.

suposed to be a non interference engine, and timing is geared, not chain.

crank rotates. cam rotates, valves ( intakes were the stuck ones.. not exhaust ), roll over freely now.

have it been a vlave clearance issue.. I'd expect to have issues with the exhust as well.. which I don't.

IE.. if all valves stuck, or any bent, or if 1 cyl's exh and int stuck.. then I might think of a timing / clearance / hydro lock issue.

but all intakes stuck, and all exhaust fine?

clearly wasn't a piston kissing contest.

still a long way to go... I need to check timing again. think i have it a lil retarded :) might have a manifold gasket leak.. had to dink with choke when cold way more than i used to..

still.. started on first rev..

got it purring at 400 rpm, and smooth at 2200

smoking a bit.. but then I'm running a mix of lucase fuel lube, b12 fuel / intake cleaner, mmo, nad uh.. some gas in the lil 1 qt temp tank i'm using.

I changed oil using some walmart 10w30 and atf fluid and have let it run and warm up.. retorqued head and rocker.

puleld covers off.. evertything is moving and top end is oiling.

all cyls puffed 120ish

no more ime today, but next plan is to start her up again, warm up, then drain that flush oil, and refill with new oil, and a new filter.

I'm going to put in supertech ful synthetic oil in her and see how it goes.

need to make a new fuel line, this one got all buggered up taking it off, etc. no biggie.. already got the tubing to bend up.

twas a good day i guess.

think I got the valves adjusted correctly.. just got to recheck that timing and the manifold issue.. may be an intake leak.. or might just be gummed up carb from that same crap fuel. longer I ran it the better it got..

really liked that felpro head gasket kit!

just came in..

got her all buttoned up.

tin back on, gas tank cleaned.. got new gas in her with a hefy dose of lubes..

warmed her with seafoam in the oil, drained crankcase, refilled with walmart synthetic oil.

started up, running great at all rpms.

still have a few wires to fix and am still running on the temp fule line (half rubber / half metal.. metal for the manifold side.. rubber for an inline shtut off for testing. )

other than that she drove up to the shop under her own power.. she had been broken down in the equipment barn .. etc.

Ok, it's been a week now and here's what I have to report.

She starts better than ever. no choke needed. I doubt the new synthetic oil has anything to do with this.. but rather perhaps cleaning up the valves, adjusting the valves and perhaps the head gasket... etc.

good oil pressure, perhaps 5 psi more than normal .. now THAT is likely the new oil talking.. :)

purrs like a kitten.. have used her to move a few things, back drag the pasture, etc.., blade the road and some lifting..
