Our 1211 has over 400 hours on it and we just love it.

It is a heavily built machine and does an excellent job cutting.

I hope you enjoy your new mower!

The 1211 is a nice machine. I really like mine. I love the foot controlled deck raise and lower. I still think they are asking too much for it but if it's what you want go for it.
I’d genuinely like to know what you think it’s worth. The price for a new one with 72” deck is $21k on the kubota website. Assuming you can get 15% off of msrp, the discounted price is $17,850. If you knock another 20% off of that, you’re at $14,280, which is slightly more than what I paid. Even at the $14,750 they were asking, I think it’s still a decent deal for a 1 year old machine that’s still under warranty with 91hours on it. No?

I think you did just fine.

Nice machine, but you are going to miss that Bad Boy. Especially the ride and suspension. There is a reason you won't find a diesel Bad Boy for that price. However you could upgrade it with a diesel. Then you will have a real horse. I mow about 3 acres of lawn a week with my Bad Boy diesel and have only filled up twice this year.

If you have been cutting with a 36HP gasoline engine mower I'm not sure you will be satisfied with the power of the 1211. They are good and they're strong but they ain't 36HP. If it was run with gasoline it would have a new engine in it. They won't run long on gas. As for the 15K, I bought one 2 years ago and paid just under 17K for it.
My zd1211 would run circles around my Dixie chopper, and the fuel consumption is so much better on the diesel.

I've never had a ZT with an engine larger than what I have on my 1211. I know that my old JD 910A had plenty of power. I would have thought a 36HP gas engine would have been strong compared to the 1211s. But one thing with mine is that it does have a mulch kit on it. That takes some power from it. But I would never own another mower without a mulch kit.

The Kubota ZD1211 & bigger models has an actual transmission with an internal wet clutch & not lil hydraulic pumps at each wheel with an electric PTO clutch like all other competitors.

No comparison imo

Gas engines are extremely hi revving with vibe & bogs badly with no torque imo

Guys, I’m looking at replacing a Bad Boy Outlaw XP with 72” deck, 36 HP Vanguard engine with a ZD1211. My local dealer has a 2023 with 90 hours on it and they’re asking just under 15k for it. I asked why someone would have traded a machine like that with so few hours and the salesman said that the owner had a problem with the fuel system and decided to just go back to a gasoline based model. He said that they flushed the fuel system and replaced the filters, and all is good. There’s a year of warranty left.

So, my thoughts are that the owner wasn’t used to a diesel mower and probably filled it with gasoline and ran it. If that’s the case, it probably wouldn’t have run for long, and it’s unlikely there would be any internal damage. I can tell you it fired right up and ran perfectly. What do you guys think? Am I overthinking this?

If the tank was almost empty when it was filled with diesel it will run for a short time until there's not enough diesel to keep it running. The question is HOW long did it run. the injectors need the lubrication of the oil that's diesel, gasoline does not lubricate. So the injectors start to wear and quickly. Yes they can be run on a diesel / gas mix in the winter, but it will decrease injector life, so the question is how much life did they lose and then how many $$ to replace them and is that still a good price for the mower and are you willing to live with that.
