Thanks Double Orange!

I kinda figured that's what it was but wanted to be sure. I've run across some 2007 models...some new, some used.

Thanks again.

I have a 3540 hsdc,724 fel with QA bucket/forks. Its the tractor i have been dreaming about my entire life (literally). I have 20 acres of core aeration to perform the end of the month, last night i was dreaming about what CD's i was going to bring & what i was going to pack for lunch, etc! I know, ive gotta get a life!

What size bush hog would you consider to big? And yes, the cabed 3540 I found was the earlier pricing and significantly cheaper than prices of today.

I would consider a 5' brushg cutter as about max for that machine. I can't comment on RFM performance.

You would bog it down in the lowest range? Do you think the new Hi/lo feature of each range would have helped?

No, I don't think the Hi/Lo feature would have helped because it was simply a lack of horseower. Once you get to the 3940 you move to a 4 cylinder engine and enough PTO HP to run 6 ft implements for only 200# more weight.

Well it looks like I've decided on a L3940 with Dec 07 prices. Now to work out the details.

L3940, Cab, HST, 724 loader w/ heavy duty roundback bucket and SS disconnect, Front auxillary with dual rear auxillary hydraulics. $30,543 plus taxes etc...

How does that sound?

I think this will be the best all around for me. I can still pull my father's 6' squealer, lift hay bales and still mow with a 84" Woods RFM.

Edit: On second thought.. and on the phone with the dealer.. I can do a L4240 with the same config for only 1,700 more... shesssh.. decisions decisions... I think the 4240 now.. haha

Second edit..

I think it would be a better idea to buy "Tractor and loader" now and skimp on the add-ons. I can always add them later. But it'll be hard to add more tractor/loader later w/o trading up.. haha
