Just wondering what all you "tractor experts" think about the L5030. For years now we've had an ancient, beat up, breaks down a lot 8N (with an ancient -doesn't- work- that- great mower)that doesn't do much of anything except mowing the fields when it works, no loader. Should have bought a good tractor with loader years ago--- have 27 acres with a huge creek, lotsa fencing etc and have been doing it all BY HAND (fence post holes, tamping posts, riprap along creek and such) and feeling OLD lately /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif and finally going to take the 'tractor plunge'....

Can only afford to get the tractor/loader right now*the "Fair sale is going on"...eventually other attachments, backhoe sure sounds nice, new mower sounds great too--WHERE is that money tree?? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So what do you think of this tractor/loader and what attachments seem most useful altho I know that's different for everyone..

Mdub,

Kubota makes a great tractor that is trouble free. There is many brands out there that are all good. Kubota may be the tractor you want but during your search don't limit yourself to one tractor. Try a few of the different ones out and see how you like the feel of them. If you are on a budget you may find one for a whole lot less money and you actually like it more. But more important than the tractor is the dealer. I don't care how good your tractor is, if the dealer won't support what he sells it will be on no good to you. That is why I say go out and look some of the other ones, if it still is Kubota then you have only strengthened your decision on the Kubota line and you will feel more comfortable in the long run. Besides half of the fun of owning a tractor is the time spent in purchasing one.

I replaced my NH 3930 (45 HP) with a Kubota L3430 HSTC (35 HP with hydro transmission and factory cab). The L3430 is smaller than the L5030, but for my use it has been a great performer. My L3430 handles the LA 723 loader with ease. In addition, it handles a 90" RFM, 72" brush hog, 72" snowblower, PHD with 12" bit, 84" RB, 2-14" 3 PT plow and a pull type 84" field cultivator. The L5030 should handle this equipment even better.

Oh, I handle the aforementioned equipment with Kubota's oversized turf tires; 27-12.5 x 15 fronts and 44-18.0 x 20 rears. Plenty of traction and soft as a feather on the lawn.

The L5030 is a world-class tractor.

OH MY GOD!

I could have written your post a year ago.

I had a Farmall-A.

I also tried to make due too long. Now I have the L5030 and now I do in an hour what used to take me 8 hours (and do not have to take Motrin).

It is like a fountain of youth, I feel like a kid again on Christmas morning every time I start it up. Before I always wondered if I would have to crank the Farmall.

The tractor is very user friendly and you will feel like a pro in a few short hours. And Power, ohhhh you got power! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Some of the accessories I got on the tractor that make it nice are the canopy, tooth bar, spinner.

Plan on getting a box blade, or filling the tires, for rear weight when using the FEL.
Top and Tilt on the optional hydraulic remotes is nice (when you find the money tree).
With the 50HP your have a "wide" variety of mowers to chose from.

Everything I have seen and read about the 5030 makes me jealous of those who own one. One of the members here uses a cab model for his haying business which is pretty demanding on a tractor and has been very happy. I certainly think you would be pleased but wonder if a something like the 3830 would not leave some cash for attachments and still meet all your needs on 27 acres. If you have not spent much time on the modern compact tractors the combination of the diesel engine and 4 wheel drive make them perform much stronger than there horsepower rating would lead you to believe.

The L5030 has the same LA853 loader that I have on my L4330. I love it it is very powerful and very smooth. I would strongly recommend getting a toothbar and quick attach bucket if you plan on using pallet forks.

Mdub, I have had my L5030 for 16 months now (260 hours) and can't really say anything bad about it. It does just about everything I have asked it to do. I know you will want attachments to go along with it, I was in the same delema as you, but with Kubota Credit I was able to put my attachments on the same loan as my tractor. This makes owning the tractor much more enjoyable. Don't know where you are in Washington, but I bought my tractor at Jennings Equipment in Puyallup. If you go there ask for Brady. He is a great sales person and knows what he is talking about. Kevin

Thanks again everyone--warwagon we are quite a ways north of you /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It seems a little big for our needs to me, but hubb's been waiting a LONG time for this and our around-the-farm projects are certainly adding up so HEY why not?!
