Oh yeah!!!...Moosetracks. Ok, now that we've established that we've a few ice cream connoisseurs hangin' around hereabouts, I'll pose the question..."who makes the absolute best Moosetracks??" I thought I had the answer severel years ago, but I've long since forgotten the brand name or where I even bought it. This has been a quest of mine for several years. Any help would be appreciated and may even help bring down the price of gasoline, as I'll spend more time at home eating ice cream. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It is good to know that there are some that still enjoy ice cream while doing the job. We used to always bring ice cream back for the "prisoners" and would look forward to a run on a hot evening. Using the right equipment, we could get back to the station before it melted..... that is if we didn't get caught on another call... one more reason to hurry back to put the ice cream in the hands of the prisoners.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh well, since this old thread is open again, now I can tell you who really makes the best ice cream, and they are open again after being shut down for a year by Hurricane Katrina. Angelo Brocato in New Orleans! Shhh! We try to keep this a big secret so the crowds don't get too big for us to get in there. When you come down to Mardi Gras though, be sure to stop there for the taste you will never forget.:D

It is interesting to read the perspective of the "new guys on the block" from way back in August 2005. It would also be interesting if those "new guys", who are now the Senior Citizens of TBN were to read what they posted back then and give their present perspective on the subject. The ice cream part of the thread, while interesting, was the glue that holds the fabric of the forums together. The original post and topic by Junkman is the meat and potatoes of the "stew pot" that we call members. Without the insight of these members, this site would become very boring quite quickly. I often wonder what Junkman would have to say about these discussion today. Dusty

Man, you dug up an old one! August 05 is when I got my first tractor and started here at TBN. As a noob I got into a bit of a row with Soundguy about pull-type vs 3pt rotary cutters. I had one available and was curious about them. I'm a pretty proof oriented person. I value good advice but a noob doesn't always know the credientials of the regulars. I found that most of the good things about a pull type mower were good and most of the bad things about them were just what Soundguy said they would be. i have a 3pt type mower now and never use the pull type one (well, in addition to everything else it is literally falling apart.)

All that is just to say that you have to spend a little time in a place, any place really, to learn where the good advice and the valuable opinions come from. In that regard I'm not sure that TBN is any different from eight or ten of my redneck friends spitting and scratching and talking about which brand of whatever is better or which way is the best to skin a cat.

As to the year old original post, well, good grief, that's human nature. Anyone who is married knows all too well that your wife can bad mouth her mother in any way she wants but if you so much as sympathetically agree with her then you are in deep kimchee. Same with my tractor, or your tractor.

I'm also a brand loyal type person. I've been through too much crappy stuff of all sorts and too much good quality stuff of all sorts to think that brand doesn't matter. Sure, within a brand things can change, but when I get something good, I stick with it. When it lets me down, I move on. We all tend to defend our choices but TBN has not, in my year if experience, been a place where brand loyalty has led to any problems or misinformation.

I really like TBN. It is populated by people with whom I share interests and have found them by and large to be intelligent, civil and very helpful...and always with plenty of good humor. I've learned a lot here. Everyday.

I will admit though, that the fun really starts when you get two regulars who know their stuff but who disagree. If you pay attention that is where you can really learn something, both in technical terms and in terms of the character of the individuals.

I have reactive hypoglycemia and almost any simple carb is like taking a sleeping pill, but I still like a little ice cream.

Best ice cream IMO is Jilbert's maple nut in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I'm moving back there in a few days.

Please substitute any brand name below for what ever brand name that you would like to insert. The brand names have been left out to protect the innocent, as well as the guilty..

I have noticed that . . . when your opinion differs with another's opinion of a tractor, you are bashing, unless you own that brand of tractor. In essence, it is OK to have an opinion, either negative or positive of your own brand, but not for the owner a different brand to repeat your negative opinions or statements in another post or thread. It also seems that some tractor brand owners are more sensitive to this phenomena than others. . . You might like strawberry ice cream and I might hate strawberry ice cream, but that doesn't mean that either one of us is correct.... it is our personal likes that make us all individual..... that is why Howard Johnson introduced 26 different flavors.....

I am lactose intolerant and offended by the entire concept of a discussion of ice cream parlors.

Dusty, I'm still lactose intolerant. My opinion, therefore, stands. My opinions of tractors have not changed either, I believe that there are good designs and bad designs. The study of ergonomics is one way to determine some of the efficiency and comfort factors.
