Opinons on WIX filters.

I always feel so guilty when I read posts on filters. I tell myself no more frams, no more lineing the pockets of mr walton i'll get me a proper filter. Then whilst Im shopping for 2 for $11 dvds I end up picking up another 5 quarts of GTX and a fram. Can I break this cycle?

Someone on here pointed out www.filter1.com and I have started using them for my filters. I like that they have pretty much every filter for all my stuff (the only one they do not have is the hydro for my 1925) and I can just sit down and order them and they show up at the house. The price works out as cheap or cheaper than if I run them down downtown even for the regular oil / fuel filters, not to mention things like my Bobcat 610 air filter, $10 (about) on Filter 1 and $22 I think O'rielleys said. Adds up pretty fast, same with the other diesel air filters on the stump grinder and the tractors.

While they may arguably not be "better" I certainly think they are not worse, and when I can get them easier and cheaper with less hassel, it makes my decisions easy.

But I do buy a fair number of filters. If I was trying to maintain one machine for use around the house, it would not be worthwhile.

I used Wix for years on the diesel in my boat. Never had a problem. I use them now on my tractors, but they have a Napa part number. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

According to my local Napa store, all Napa filters are made by Wix. He pointed out the parts numbers are the same, except for the extra digit on the Wix labeled product. I.E, a Wix 11551 is the same as the Napa 1551.

Personally, I trust Wix, Baldwin, Napa, Purolator, Denso, and Toyota. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I won't buy a Fram or anything that looks like it might have been spewed from their plant. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

The Purolator filter is a FRAM filter , just a different colour.

Take care,

Will,
Are you real sure about that?

Who makes the AC oil filters? Someone told me WIX, and another told me Kralinator, so I thought I would check here to find out for sure!!

Thanks,

Will

Allied Signal is the parent company of Fram.
Purolator has been making filters sense 1923 and are now owned by ArvinMeritor Inc.

Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I was told, Fram and Purolator are owned by the same company, and are all the same filter.

Of course I could be wrong?

Do you know who makes the AC filters?

Thanks,

Will

I don't know who makes AC. Somewhere I read that they went to a off shore or foreign manufacture a while back.
