Well, I guess I had it coming. After all those years of laughing at the dummies who drove into their garages with the ROPs up, I can now humbly say I am one of those dummies as I just drove my CUT into my low shop garage door, you guessed it, with the ROPs extended! Wow, the noise sounded like a clap of thunder as I instantly realized what I had done. Turns out the damage wasn't too badl, still a wake up call and reminder that we are all human and accidents do happen.

I guess that is one problem i don't have to worry about... My hood won't hardly make it under the door.. let alone anything like the rops..

Trade ya! Your broken garage door for my cracked femur.

Got home @ 1PM to spend some time repairing damage to the garden done by strong winds and storms last night. (Some blown over corn, a few pepper plants knocked down) I drove the tractor back to the garden. When I started to get off, I noticed one of our dogs had got out. I jumped off the tractor to go after her. Where I jumped was a bank next to the driveway. It was wet grass. I did a giant endo, landing on my left thigh. SNAP! It isn't completely broken, just cracked. But the pain is incredable. Got it in an inflatable cast now. Gotta go back tomorrow to see if it gets a hard cast.

This is going to create a major vaccuum.

Tomorrow is Day # 1 of summer 2006, and I'm down for the count.

Yes, I'm bummed

Glad you see the bright side of hitting your door. Now tell me what's so good about breaking a leg.

Has anyone noticed that Soundguy owns TEN tractors???? Look at his profile. He says he has not hit his ROPS against the door. He probably has a full time employee who does nothing but move his tractors around for him and they watch the door height.

Just funning. Hey Soundguy: How do you stay married and get to keep ten tractors????? You have about one tractor per acre???????

Hey Syncro... I bet you'll look next time! Glad to hear that the damage was minimal.

Farmwithjunk.... I hate to hear about your injury. Get well soon. Then again.... less tractor time does mean more TBN time! I know... you don't have time for sitting around... just kidding.

Anybody notice hwo old the average age of Soundguy's tractors. Most were made long before ROPs came into existence.

Been there - done that - and I'm not planning on ever doing it again! Like you, I was both lucky and surprised how little damage there was.

Welcome to the club. (that no one really wants to belong to!)

Now cracking my femur - sorry to hear about that. I can't say I've ever done that (thankfully), though I totally understand how it can happen.

Yep.. I currently only own one that has rops.. the big NH. I did own a smaller NH with rops.. but traded it up for the bigger unit.

I've bene considering buying a set of rops for my 5000 as it also gets work duty.. as well as my 660 with loader.

I check out the auction all the time... if I ever find a deal.. I'll pick it up..
