John Deere 4310 E Hydro
First of all I would like to THANK EVERYONE that has taken the time to respond to my question. I am truely amazed at the responses. All were entertaining and informative. I had the chance to drive both machines today, and I liked them both what it might come down to for me is the snow blower. The K is much more involved labor wise to attach. You have to get under it and attach the framework (IT"S HEAVY) but it's built like a tank. On the JD hook-up is a snap, but while solid it's not as HD as the K. Still haven't figured out tires r3 or r4 for soft sand , and snow? Right now I'm leaning a little to the GREEN (QUICK CONNECTIONS)(NICE SEAT)( AMERICAN MADE) but that could change

Actually, the Deere's not anymore American made than Kubota or Kioti. Mose of the pieces are made in another country. They are just assembled here in the States. Some may even be assembled in another country and shipped to the States.

how often do u plan on taking it off and putting it on? if u are only going to do it once a year , it might not be a problem! but u should defintly get the one that you feel the most comfortable with

The Deere DOES have a Yanmar engine, But the tractor is American made. My 4310 is covered by made in usa componants.

Deere is an American company that has a large global presence. Some of their products are entirely made overseas. But that isn't the case with the 4310 you are looking at. Not that a Japanese made Kub, Deere or NH is by any means junk.

As to ease of switching componants, that is pretty important. You can't imagine how often you go to one job, and need to switch out. If it isn't quickly done, you end up not using the tractor. I'd still be saying that if it were the kub that was easier.

Badapple,

A couple of other thoughts you might want to consider. Which tractor, tire and rim combination can be made the widest for stability on your hills? Will both tractors and tire combinations have enough clearance for chains if you find that you need them for your snow? Have you considered pricing remote hydraulic outlets for possible future wants like top and tilt. (great with a boxblade for all the sand moving you plan) How about a quick attach loader bucket so you can switch to forks or a front blade. Some of the options are much more affordable at the time of a purchase.

Good luck with your search. I don't think you can go wrong with either tractor you are looking at.

Ditto!

The Deere loader has quick attach bucket std. I am not sure on the Kub.

Badapple,

I don't know if it was mentioned in your other thread but why don't you through in another machine or two. Not to buy one but maybe you will see something on one of the other ones that you might find you like and it may be on one of your other ones. Maybe Kioti, Case or New Holland might for example give your the snowblower that is easy on and off along with the durability your looking for. Most of the compacts out there are good tractors and even if you limit youself to the Deere and Kubota my decision would be on which dealer is the best. Which one is going to give you good service. As far as durability on either one they both are going to handle what you hit them with. Get out there and test drive some more, get more prices and get to know your dealers more.

For the 4310, this statement is untrue. Yes, the engine is Japanese. And there are other parts imported, but when you buy one, the majority of your dollars stay here in America.

I guess the tractor mfg's need to start putting labels that state how much foreign content they have.

It takes me about 2-3 minutes to remove or install my 430 FEL on my 4310. To install the 59 inch front snow blower is
about 10 minutes and to remove it is about 3 minutes.
I always seem to struggle getting any pto shaft to slide on and that's what takes most of the time.
Now for the American made part of this discussion.
The plain fact of the matter is there is no such thing
as American made vs. Japanese made / vs. European made or any other country for that matter. I work for
a large multinational company, Caterpillar, and things like
countries get in the way of being able to effectively
do business on a global scale. Whether we like to admit it or not, we really do have one global economy that is linked together in extremely complex ways. Computers and networks allow us to seek out the best supplier of goods and services anywhere on the planet. CAT has design, engineering, parts distribution or manufacturing facilites in 21 or 22 time zones around the world. We would have a facility in the other ones except there isn't any land in the middle of the pacific ocean. Most major Japanese car companies
have manufacturing or assembly facilities in the U.S.
Kawasaki has a motorcycle facility in Nebraska.
Many companies have cross branded products. For example,
John Deere sells both excavators and articulated trucks
in North America, the excavators are made in the U.S.
and the trucks are manufactured by Volvo. Both products
sold in North America have John Deere Decals. Those same two products are sold in Europe have Volvo stickers on them.
I don't mean to carry on but I truly feel that all of the products discussed on TBN, such as JD, Kubota, Ford NH,
and others and I apologize for not mentioning them by name,
are made on planet earth and all are world class. Companies
who don't make world class products today simply cannot survive in a world market place.
