Ordered a Wolf Ridge MFG Splitter

I like processing wood also, from logging the trees to burning the splits and everything in between.
I burn 6 full cords a year and only have a $1000 splitter and it's electric... no noise or smoke to deal with.

Something about it, ya know? My brother-in-law and I enjoy the whole thing... the ladies think we are crazy :laughing:

I was hand splitting about 3 cords for each season for just multiple fireplace use, but we are moving to a much greater wood demand, and my brother-in-law started using his basement wood stove in his house.

Friends who know others that have used them
Called companies that sell them...many sold to people that rent units
Scanning the local paper

That looks great. Looks very professionally built.

One question, I see that the stationary post does not have any adjustments on it. What happens when you have a chunk of wood that is a little longer than the gap?

Would have been nice if he had carried the main beam a little longer and then allowed you to move the fixed post as needed.

Well I got the call it was ready for pickup, so drove over to Old Dominion warehouse in Winchester VA. After loading it on the trailer I took a look over it.

Well bad news... Old Dominion damaged it in shipping. Looks like they tried to stack it on a shelf.




Damaged both valve bodies, oil leaked all over it, and took away my chance to put the first scratch on it :thumbdown:

The WORST part of it all was rejecting the delivery so it would be sent back to Chris @ Wolfe Ridge and then start the waiting all over again.

Good part is talked with Chris, and he is going to get it all fixed up and “new” again

That is sad.

However in hindsight , which is always 20/20, it probably should have been shipped without the levers in place, but that still doesn't excuse the other damage.

Shippers can be brutal but I agree that it should have been packaged better. My Brave was shipped in a full crate and I had to do some assembly like put the wheeels and levers on, but nothing could be easily damaged in shipping.

that stinks. Nice looking unit thats for sure. Its a good thing you looked it over before taking it home. I purchased my log splitter from Northerntool (northstar splitter). It came needing complete assembly. It wasn't bad. I did it myself. I enjoyed putting it together. It was well packaged as well.

Splitter was delivered! With all this crazy going on around our beautiful US of A, I opted to have them deliver it. Driver showed up this morning.
