No, it was a small Marathon just at the Versailles City limits. About 3miles from DoughDaddy's.

BTW... I spent about 3 years never going into DoughDaddy's and did just fine. I stopped in one day, and BAM!!!

Now, I have to work to AVOID going in there. Luckily, I can avoid them most times, by taking the back roads from my place. Their doughnuts are great!

I sometimes come up the KY parkway returning from arkansas, stopped at doughdaddys, and wife had to make some more trips that way. Then one time, they weren't as good, and wife isn't as interested in going that way anymore.

I was thinking I was too hard on Oregon... lots of Californians I personally know have moved there... young singles, marrieds and retired...

Medford, Roseburg, Bend and the greater Portland area all the way to Salem...

Keep meaning to stop at good friends in Grants Pass and the farm of a Doc I worked with on the Umpqua River...

Many think of California but that thought quickly vanishes when they come back to visit and experience SF Bay Area traffic!!!

I do not know of any ''service stations'' around my area /state anymore. There may still be a hand full of them around, but I couldn't tell you where they are located. Most have gone the way of the dinosaur !

Only time i was in Oregon, i was flying from yakima to seattle in a turboprop around rainier, and after takeoff, our flight got diverted to portland, i forget the reason. Once we got to portland, the airline got us off the plane, and said find your own way to seattle. They suddenly had a mob on their hands, at least as big a mob as a turboprop holds, that said our flight was to seattle, get us to seattle. So they eventually did.

We have gas stations in small rural Kansas towns that are just pumps in the middle of town, no store or anything other than the pumps with card readers. I don't want some dweeb putting gas in my truck anyway.

Exactly. A few years ago I picked up a huge load of firewood (5 cords) in Burns, Oregon and pulled into a station to top off my fuel tank before heading back to Nevada. The attendant came running out, grabbed the gas nozzle and shoved it into my truck and then got all peeved because I yelled at her. Just ignored the "Diesel Fuel" notice on the fuel fill door and the big "C" on the truck's fender. But I really didn't want gasoline in my diesel truck!

There is probably some truth behind that picture.

I keep seeing this picture on FB and my first thought is why? If the nozzle fits into the fill spout, then wouldn't it mean that she is driving a diesel vehicle? Unleaded fuel is through a smaller nozzle that only fits in a smaller fill spout. Am I wrong, or are there diesel nozzles that are the same size and unleaded nozzles?

Still unanswered: what is so great about pumping your own gas?

I'm old enough to have had a bit of experience with gas station attendants before self serve. After experiencing gas spilled down the side of the car, gas spilled all over the motorcycle tank, chipped paint around the gas cap, lost gas caps and damaged components under the hood, I never want to go back to full service.
