(OT) bunk bed

Built this this weekend for under $100.

Yes the lower is a full, and the top is a twin.

Technically its not a bunk bed as the lower bed is a pedestal bed i build a few years ago out of 2x2 square tubing.
I guess its a loft bed fit over a full. I was going to connect them using steel throughout but i am sure in a few years the older one will want to move to the basement. The loft can then accommodate a couch, computer desk, etc.

That brings back memories of when I was 13. My dad had bought me and my older brother a bunk bed and when we moved. I didn't put the guard rail back on. (Saying that's for little kids). Boy was I wrong. I fell one night and hit the side of the bottom "metal" bunk. Boy did that leave a mark on my back. :laughing:

And to think. It didn't even wake me up. If my dad hadn't come in there and shook me awake I would have stayed laying with my back across the bed and my head on the ground all night.

The bottom of our bunk bed was wider than the top.

My dad heard a loud bang and turns out it was me. Those guard rails are necessary. Now I know why there on there. There for anyone who sleeps on the bunk. Sometimes I think I need one on my regular bed too as I've rolled out of it many times as well.

I can't believe my brother didn't even wake up. He was too sound asleep. lol
