Looking good! A few thoughts... I went through a similar process when I built a 28x36 shop two years ago. Two things I did that have really paid off: 1. after initial grading (dirt), I had a guy come in with his bobcat and front attached vibratory roller to compact everything. 2. I then covered pad with 6" of #57 washed stone, plastic barrier, and then pored 5" of 5000 psi concrete with fiber. It has held up very well with no settling or cracking. I guess my main message is compact well, and go with more than 4" of concrete rated at least at 5000 psi. Be sure to add fiber to the conrete as well as rebar or wire as needed.

Thank you to everyone for the assistance. I need it!!

The boys didn't get to bring their Tonka trucks to play in the dirt? :D
They took off their sweatshirts and socks - first they just rolled around which eventually became front flips - then they played something like GI joe or war or something for a while - then they started throwing dirt bombs at each other - it all ended when Chris was bleeding from the brand new gash in his head... then there was sand everywhere when they got home to get undressed. :D

For up here, that is a good price on the material.
I think they gave me a small discount - I've heard $85-$100 is the average retail price. Either way - now they have a customer for life. I'm very impressed with Sprint - they'll be providing my bank sand too.

You need something heavy to spread and pack that fill. Like a full size backhoe or dozier. Then it needs to rain on it and it settle before erecting your building on it. That way it won't settle when you pour concrete and your concrete crack.
Chris
Agreed. I'm still working on getting it handled correctly. I might have use a hose if it doesn't rain sometime soon. The company building the structure said they'll try to help compact it if possible. I'm a little nervous but things usually work out.

I wish I had budgeted for all that in advance... I might have to cut a corner or two...

Here is what it looked like when I arrived this morning.
Not too bad for 1.) rookie with a box blade & 2.) doing it in the dark :p

Make sure to ask the people who are going to build the building, for their advice and guidance before the building goes up or the slab is poured....
.In my case I had quite a large storage building , and where the sliding doors were the concrete has an apron a foot thick where the implements drove into the building, and the steel guide rail was...It has never cracked in thirty yrs.... and the floor is very smooth which has to be swept out all the time...Tony
