Yeah, I know.

I'm from Iowa's "east coast" with lots of bluffs and hills. You don't have to drive very far west to get into the flatter landscape.

My family vacationed in Yellowstone a couple of summers back and we drove home through Nebraska. My kids were sooooo glad to see the rolling hills of Iowa after that!

Pitbull,

Being from Pennsylvania, I could never understand why people picked on PA road while I lived in the state. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

Then I moved away.... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

I was away from PA for a year and a half. When I returned, I got really peeved at the conditions of the road!! Yeah, and all of that construction. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Doh!!

I can't remember the name of the restaraunt but it sure was good. You're absolutely right, those Amish can cook. We have an Amish community (now a tourist community) near us and I always look forward to eating there /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The way they do street construction/repair here in Burlington is on the first day of spring they tear up every street that might need repair during the year. This results in an entire year of closed, blocked or under construction streets through out the town. Their reasoning is that the budget might get cut before all the projects are done if they did them one at a time, so if they tear them all up in advance, the money has to be allotted to finish them, right? /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Burlington averages 50 - 60 coal trains crossing the Mississippi daily. The BN-SF tracks run through town and we started an overpass this year at one of the busiest crossings. The day after they broke ground our mayor announced that the project was all ready $1.5M over budget, I just don't understand road building I guess.

If roads in PA are worse then this, I think I'll stay in Iowa!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Is a day and half in Iowa too much?
I grew up in Linn County - just north of cowboydoc country - and I'd say 1 1/2 days is just about all I can stand at a time - then I gotta git back to Texas! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I tell my mother it's not my fault she gave birth to a Texan in Iowa. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

mikim,

Funny how things work, when I fly to Ft Worth for my job, a day and a half is all I can take of Texas! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

Where in Linn County did you live?
