Outdoor Digital TV antenna and recording Programs

Thank you. I've seen a lot of phony reviews on different products, especially off brand game cameras. But usually they only have a dozen reviews and then they are closed so nobody else can give a review. I've never seen anything with over a thousand reviews that where mostly fake, but I'm sure that's gonna happen sooner or later.

I've been looking at the different Channel Master models, but wasn't sure which one you had until you posted the picture.

I always made tapes of interesting documentaries for my Dad.

Bugged me right from day one, that APPLE TV with the HDMI cable prevents any avenue for recording.

i trend to attach picture but can't. it looks like there are 4 barely detectable sections. thats all a can say. sorry. darn thought i goof it up. there it is!!!!!!!

I have a similar size/type made by Atennas Direct. It's mounted to a no longer made Eagle Aspen rotator. It's a pretty good setup for me however most of the station antennas are only about 15 miles away. I need to relocate it to the other end of the house because I have a large oak between it and the station antennas.

My PBS station is in the opposite direction and 40 miles away. I can get it and most of the network stations perfect. I have one network that is flakey at times. It's odd because their tower is located on the same property as the other networks.

im about 90 miles from the broadcast towers straight shot with hills in the way. the installer said he installs different antennas in different areas. he had some sort of signal meter when he came out and checked on the roof first. said he wouldn't install an antenna if he couldn't get a good enough signal.

some digital tv channels are on VHF, so don't buy a UHF only antenna!.. look here. https://www.fcc.gov/sites/default/files/antennas_and_digital_television.pdf
This is a very important point. Go to antennaweb.org and enter your address, then look at the resulting list of stations. If any desired stations show the RF channel of 2-6, you need a vhf low antenna. If any are 7-13, you need a vhf high antenna. In our Mid-Atlantic region, all local broadcasters are VHF-high or UHF, so I use Winegard HD7698P, which works very well for our needs.

I just went to antennaweb and put in my zip code, then clicked on the link to suggest an antenna for my area with Channel Master. It came back with this.

CM-4228HD EXTREMEtenna 80 | Channel Master

I think this is the same one that you have.

We use a Fraccaro Log Periodic bands 3-4-5 which covers the entire digital spectrum, they are a high gain antenna (about 9db) and are 75 ohm so no balun required and are now F connected.
They also make a range of yagi's that have specific channel groupings and could be suited to your area, made in Italy and have a very good name, part of the Philips group

Your KLTV is on channel 7 which is a VHF-High channel. At roughly 15 miles distant, I don't think that 8 bay UHF antenna will be a problem though. You might be a little better served by using the CH-4221HD 4 bay UHF. The reason being that it has a broader capture area. You might even get by very well with a little Eagle Aspen 2 bay UHF for $20 ( DTV2BUHF) or an Antennas Direct DB-2.
The biggest challenge for reception in Tyler, TX is that the four potential broadcasters are in four different compass directions, from 17 to 180 degrees. Terrain likely makes one of the four less likely to receive. I'd get the biggest antenna reasonably available, plus an amplifier to overcome coax and splitter loss.
